Locked On Wild - Your Daily Minnesota Wild Podcast

On today's episode of Locked on Wild, Alex Micheletti joins to discuss the latest surrounding Kevin Fiala's contract negotiations with the Wild. We discuss whether or not we should be concerned at the gap between Fiala and the Wild in arbitration salary filings, and if the Wild will be able to ultimately get an extension ironed out. We also discuss whether or not Fiala's track record helps his case. We finish the episode playing "Core or Complimentary" and try to put members of the Wild roster into their proper categories.

On today's episode of Locked on Wild, Adam Denker of Locked on Lightning joins to discuss the offseason for the Stanley Cup Champions. We look at what expectations should be for the 2021-22 season considering the Lightning are cap-strapped. Who is going to replace the production of Yanni Gourde and others that have departed? How close did the Kraken get to selecting other players on the Lightning roster? We also discuss the outcry over the Lightning's use of the salary cap. For the Wild, we dive deep into the Parise/Suter buyouts and whether or not it is having an effect on Kirill Kaprizov's negotiations with the club. We then finish by comparing Game of Thrones families and characters to various NHL teams.

On today's episode of Locked on Wild, Seth and Zach get to the bottom of the Kirill Kaprizov contract negotiations. We start with the latest update from Frank Servalli that Kaprizov has a tentative agreement with CSKA Moskow to return to the KHL if he doesn't agree to a new deal with the Wild. We then look at some other sources that deny that is accurate. We also bring in some recent comments from Ilya Sorokin, who further douses the legitimacy of Kaprizov returning to the KHL.

We discuss the legitimacy of the salary reportedly offered considering the low overall salary cap of the KHL and the fact that it is already set for the upcoming season. And we finish by looking at recent deals handed out to 29 year old free agents, which is the age Kaprizov would be heading into free agency if he signs a 5 year deal with the Wild this offseason.

On today's episode of Locked on Wild, we welcome Armando Velez of Locked on Panthers for a special Offseason Crossover Episode! We start by asking Armando about the Sam Reinhart trade, and where that puts Florida among teams with the best center combination in the NHL. We also look at why the offseason was quiet other than that for the Panthers, who are trying to stay relatively cap-neutral while they negotiate an extension with Aleksander Barkov.

We switch to the Wild, and Armando asks Seth about the ripple effects of Zach Parise and Ryan Suter's buyouts. We also dive deep into the Kirill Kaprizov contract negotiations, and whether or not the Wild are still in on Jack Eichel and if Seth even thinks that is still a good idea. We then finish with expectations heading into the 2021-22 season for both Florida and Minnesota.

On today's episode of Locked on Wild we assess the state of Minnesota sports teams with Stephen Strom of the Strom Sports Show. We start with the Twins, and whether or not Stephen likes the return the Twins got for their trade deadline moves. We also wonder whether or not the Twins can get back into the hunt next year or if they will need a little more time to become competitive again. We also preview the Gopher football season, and what sort of bounce back season we can expect from PJ Fleck and his team.

For the Wild portion of the show, we look at an interesting theory in which Kevin Fiala is delaying his signing with the Wild so as not to be included in a Jack Eichel trade. We also discuss the center depth for the team, and if the team had any other plan other than Jack Eichel to fill their center depth. But after an update on Marco Rossi, we also wonder if he will be able to ascend sooner rather than later in the Wild lineup. Stephen asks Seth about the Wild's defensive signings, and that leads to an interesting question of how the Wild's power play units will look next year.

We finish with the Timberwolves, who entered a pivotal stretch of NBA Free Agency and have done absolutely nothing, and wonder aloud if the Wolves front office will last much longer. And finally the Vikings over/under is set at 9. Which way will they go?

On today's episode of Locked on Wild, Zach Zeman joins the show to dive into some offseason questions that have yet to be answered. We start by looking at how the line combinations may look for the Wild with news that Dean Evason may try to pair Kevin Fiala and Freddy Gaudreau on the same line. We also discuss the implications that salary arbitration with Kevin Fiala could have on his availability in a trade. We finish the show by looking at whether or not the Wild should still pursue Jack Eichel, if they should pursue Christian Dvorak, or if Bill Guerin is banking on Marco Rossi becomming Kirill Kaprizov's personal center once Victor Rask's current deal expires.

On today's episode of Locked on Wild, Jack Bushman of Locked on Blackhawks joins the show to recap a very busy offseason for the Blackhawks. We start by laying out the timeline of Marc-Andre Fleury being traded to Chicago, mulling retirement and then declaring this weekend that he will suit up for the Blackhawks in the 2021-22 season. We also look at what was more of a risk in acquiring Seth Jones, the prospects Chicago gave up or the extension the team signed him to? We finish by discussing the acquisition of Tyler Johnson from Tampa Bay in a move that will help the Lightning shed some desperately needed salary off their books. Jack then asks Seth for an update on Kirill Kaprizov and Kevin Fiala's contract negotiations, and what he thinks the terms end up actually being for both players.
