Locked On Wild - Your Daily Minnesota Wild Podcast

On today's episode of Locked on Wild, we look at what the Wild's Opening Night Roster might look like after the Prospect Showcase. The goalie position for the Wild is pretty well set, but Andrew Hammond looks to be the one who would step up if either Cam Talbot or Kaapo Kahkonen miss time due to injury.

On defense, Calen Addison should compete for the final starting spot with Jordie Benn, but don't be surprised if Dean Evason opts for the experience of Benn to at least start the season. Beyond that there really aren't any surprises unless the team deals with a ton of injuries.

On offense Bill Guerin set the stage for the potential of both Matt Boldy and Marco Rossi to grab forward spots. That could mean that Ryan Hartman starts the season as a wing, but if Rossi doesn't make the team then Hartman will lock down a center spot.

On today's episode of Locked on Wild, Zach Zeman joins the show and we start by recapping the Tom Kurvers Prospect Showcase. Matt Boldy and Marco Rossi stole the show all weekend, but Seth and Zach talk about a couple of other players who did well throughout the weekend. Seth also notes that Jesper Wallstedt is probably the best goalie in the Wild system right now, despite a nice game from Dereck Baribeau. Also, how nice is it to have the Blackhawks rivalry back?

We move to the bold predictions, which start with a huge season for Nico Sturm, who has been steadily gaining momentum since he cracked the Wild's lineup. We also discuss a make or break year for Matt Dumba, and what he can do to shore up the top line defensive pairing for the Wild. We also look at the possibility of Rossi, Boldy AND Calen Addison all making the Wild roster to start the season. And we finish by discussing the importance of Cam Talbot showing his dominance with the full schedule on tap this year and a move back to the Central Division.

On today's episode of Locked on Wild, we are joined by Jack Bushman of Locked on Blackhawks for a special crossover episode! We discuss the big names to watch in the Tom Kurvers Prospect Showcase over the weekend, with all eyes on Marco Rossi and Matt Boldy on the Minnesota side. We also discuss the latest with the Kirill Kaprizov negotiations. We also discuss the Central Division, and why it might all come down to how well Darcy Kuemper does in net for the Avalanche. If he struggles, the division is WIDE OPEN.

On today's episode of Locked on Wild, Patrick, a lifelong Wild fan, joins to ask Seth some questions. We start by looking at Seth's favorite games in recent Wild memory, with Seth picking the 6-5 win over Vegas, and the 1-0 win over the Golden Knights in the playoffs. We look at whether or not Kirill Kaprizov can break the Wild's all time record for goals, and the answer for him comes down to whether or not he stays with the Wild long term. We also wonder who was the most impactful free agent signing the Wild made this offseason. We also debate if the Wild should change the goal song or keep it as is.

On today's episode of Locked on Wild, Dev of 10,000 Takes joins the show to discuss the latest in the Kirill Kaprizov contract negotiations. We look at if there is anyone in this process who is the "villain" or if it's simply taking longer than we anticipated it would. We also look at parallels between the Joel Eriksson Ek contract process and Kirill's negotiations, and why JEEK's took so much less time to put together. We finish by looking at Marat Khusnutdinov and the impact he could have on the Wild's lineup and how he got his nickname.

On today's episode of Locked on Wild, Alex Micheletti joins to look at which teams in the Western Conference are contenders or pretenders. We start with the Wild and the Central division. Do the moves the Wild made in the offseason make them contenders for a playoff spot or will it be tough sledding against the entirety of the NHL? Will Chicago be able to fight for a playoff spot with their new pieces and step up in goaltending? Can Winnipeg ride good goaltending again this year and capture another playoff spot? Is Nashville going to be able to capture the magic they had or will they regress with the full schedule on their plate this year? How will Arizona begin to make strides in the right direction? Are the Blues going to be able to shake off a down year and get back on track? Will Colorado be able to shake off depth concerns to win the Central? Can Dallas get good enough goaltending to make a run?

In the Pacific Division, will Seattle be able to sneak into the playoffs with their inaugural roster? Can Calgary overcome major losses to their roster to still make the playoffs? Is there any scenario in which the Golden Knights miss the playoffs? Will Anaheim be able to figure out their goaltending situation? Will Vancouver be able to take their new acquisitions and slide into the playoffs? What direction does San Jose go this year? Are the Kings in a rebuild or can they earn a playoff spot? Did Edmonton do enough to put a competitive roster around Connor McDavid?

On today's episode of Locked on Wild, Judd Zulgad of SKOR North and Judd's Hockey Show joins the show! We discuss the effect the Kirill Kaprizov negotiations may have on his desire to sign here after his inevitable extension, and whether or not his agent overplayed his hand way too early. We also look at if the Wild have any questions that still need to be answered before the season starts. Judd states his concerns for the Wild's Blue Line, as well as the overall center depth, which will likely force the Wild to make a move if they start the season strong.

We also look at if Wild fans are confident in Bill Guerin's vision, and whether or not he needs to approach things like an NBA GM and have a shorter plan if needed. We then finish by looking at where the Wild could finish in the Central Division, whether or not people are discounting the full NHL schedule could lead to the Wild not having as good of a season, and if the Winter Classic sweaters are good or not.

On today's episode of Locked on Wild, Gabe Foley of Recruit Scouting joins to take an early look at some of his favorites for the 2022 NHL Draft. We start by looking at why this draft will be substantially deeper than the 2021 class and should allow the Wild to snag great players no matter where they draft. We start by looking at why Shane Wright is the consensus top pick. We also discuss the other players near the top of the draft such as Matthew Savoie, Brad Lambert and Logan Cooley and what they bring to the table.

On defense we discuss names such as Simon Nemec, Ryan Chesley and Lane Hudson. At the Goalie position we discuss Tyler Brennan and Mason Beaupit. We also discuss Beaupit putting up absurd numbers that haven't been reached in a very long time. Plenty of other names make their way into the episode as well!

On today's episode of Locked on Wild, Chris Micieli of Locked on Avalanche joins for a crossover episode! We start by talking about the Avalanche, and whether or not Darcy Kuemper will give the Avs the same goaltending that Philip Grubauer did or if the Avs are in for a regression in net. We also discuss which player loss will impact the Avalanche both on and off the court. We move to the Wild, and if their success last year was a surprise that they can hope for again this year, or if the full schedule will lead to a regression. We finish discussing the latest with the Kirill Kaprizov contract negotiations, and what effect the Zach Parise and Ryan Suter buyouts will have going forward. We also look at potential Wild prospects who could impress this season.

On today's episode of Locked on Wild, Alex Micheletti joins the show as we look at what rosters might look like for various countries in the 2022 Winter Olympics. We start with team USA, team Canada and team Russia, who are the biggest contenders in the field and have arguably the most NHL talent spread amongst each other of the rest of the field combined. We also look at Wild players who could see time with their home countries, including Kirill Kaprizov with team Russia. We also discuss Zach Parise officially signing with the Islanders, and Bill Guerin saying that Kaprizov talks continue to progress.
