The idea your life can be boiled down to six performance areas is ridiculous. What's worse, being told you can equate your performance to numbers is horrible at best. Instead, live for what you can master and what you can own. You don't need to be something for a salesman. You be yourself.

Jerry Seinfeld was wrong. Chains suck.
If you believe you need to keep doing something every day to make a difference, then good on ya. We depressed people know things come in batches and waves. Instead of doing something different and trying to work to our weaknesses, I promote working with our strengths. This episode is a version of this strength and I am not afraid to admit it.

This episode is brought to you by Thor and the rain he provides as well as the giants he slays. I tried to make it to a company event, but my pride got the better of me in the long run. Instead, here I am, recording another episode for the great listeners who are struggling with depression.

Never let anyone tell you that what you're feeling is not enough.
Never.

This is the breakdown of what I go through when these storms rage. This is the squall of self-destruction and hate. I know what it is and I know the root, but I haven't fought it. It is a matter of self-worth and value. I was taught a long time ago to shut up, be ready to "go," and don't do anything to ruin my value.

Another depressive storm, another moment to study and understand why it happened. This time around was the common discussion of mattering. There is nothing worse than having your own voice pick yourself apart. The only thing I am really glad for is the new week started and everything goes back to zero.

If there is one thing we can't do as human beings, it is forgiving ourselves. When it comes to being depressed, it is 3x as difficult. Even now as I write this, I am still beating myself up for something that wasn't even in my control. This is the pattern of the depressed mind and the relentless attachment we have as we fight our stigma and our control.
Also, how about that sport ball? Did you see that thing that happened when the team went and kicked that pass into the interception? I love football, but I am feeling guilty for being out so late and having too much...

The audio is going to speak for itself (you might hear me clearer now), but I'm sure we've all been there when someone gives us advice we don't need but we've actually followed.
"Hey, you can just...you know...stop being depressed, right?"

Fair warning: This episode might be a little darker than expected. That's okay though, you were trusted by someone who is hearing their darkness call to them. Hopefully these 5 minutes will help you understand the great amount of trust they put in you and the expose the fact you can get help yourself while helping them.

Daily I see the evidence abuse left with me. It isn't my heart attack hairline or my poor physical condition. No, it is my mangled pinkie fingers. This is the trophy of abuse I carry as I waddle through this world. This episode is about understanding the damage depression and abuse can leave even at an early age.
