Have you ever failed?
If you haven't,
I suggest you try some.
你曾经失败过吗？
如果你没有
那我建议你去尝试一下

I have failed, many times.
And some of these failures
were even painful.
我失败过，太多次了。

But I cherish them
more than I cherish my success.
Success sometimes makes you numb.
但我珍惜它们

成功有时候会让你麻木

But failures make you awake.
Failures are cleansing.
Failing is not necessarily losing.
Neither does a failure make you a loser.
但失败则会让你清醒
失败让你觉得神清气爽
失败并不一定意味着输

也并不代表你就是个失败者

Failing is just the name
we give to the state you stay in
until you succeed.
我们只是用失败
来称呼成功之前的那种状态而已

A failure is a precious opportunity
to learn new things.
一次失败是一次学习新东西的好机会。

And trust me.
You always remember what you learn in failures
better than those you learn in success.
而且，相信我
你永远会把失败中所学的东西

Failing doesn't mean
you lost something forever.
It only means
that you didn't get it yet
and you have to find another way to get it.

A new direction to think.
Don't pray for easy success.
That' a curse.

A man married a beautiful girl.
He loved her very much.
一个男人娶了一个漂亮女孩
他非常爱她


One day she developed a skin disease.
Slowly she started to lose her beauty.
突然她得了一种皮肤病
慢慢地开始失去美貌


It so happened
that one day her husband left for a tour.
While returning he met with an accident
and lost his eyesight.
碰巧有一天她丈夫去旅行
回来的路上他遭遇车祸失明了


However their married life
continued as usual.
But as days passed
she lost her beauty gradually.
然而他们的婚姻生活照旧
但随着时间的流逝她越来越丑


Blind husband did not know this
and there was not any difference
in their married life.
失明的丈夫并不知情
他们的婚姻也没有任何变化


He continued to love her
and she also loved him very much.
他依然爱她
她也非常爱他


One day she died.
Her death brought him great sorrow.
一天她还是离开了
她的离世给他很大伤痛


He finished all her last rites
and wanted to leave that town.
他处理好一切后事
想要离开那个城镇


A man from behind called and said,
now how will you be able to walk all alone?
All these days your wife used to help you.
He replied, I am not blind.
后面有人叫住他说：
“现在你自己怎么过?
以往都是妻子照顾你的。”
他回答说：“我没有失明。”


I was acting,
because if she knew
l could see her ugliness
it would have pained her
more than her disease.
我是装的
因为如果她知道我能看到她的丑
给她带来的痛苦
比疾病本身更让她难以承受


So I pretended to be blind.
She was a very good wife.
I only wanted to keep her happy.

Moral:
Some times it is good for us
to act blind and
ignore one another's short comings,
in order to be happy.

No matter how many times

thee和you的区别
①.thou 是人称代词，表示你，you, 用古文来说就是汝，例如
Who art thou? 汝何人也？就等于说 Who are you?


②.thee 则是thou的宾格。
eg:The god bless thee and keep thee.(上帝祝福你，保佑你)

《出师表》节选

Permit me to observe:
the late emperor was taken from us
before he could finish his life's work,
the restoration of the Han.
Today, the empire is still divided in three,
and our very survival is threatened.
臣亮言：先帝创业未半而中道崩殂，
今天下三分，益州疲弊，此诚危急存亡之秋也。

Yet still the officials at court
and the soldiers throughout
the realm remain loyal to you, your majesty.
Because they remember the late emperor,
all of them, and they wish
to repay his kindness in service to you.
然侍卫之臣不懈于内，忠志之士忘身于外者，
盖追先帝之殊遇，欲报之于陛下也。

This is the moment to extend your divine influence,
to honor the memory of the late Emperor
and strengthen the morale of your officers.
It is not the time to listen to bad advice,
or close your ears to the suggestions of loyal men.
诚宜开张圣听，以光先帝遗德，恢弘志士之气，
不宜妄自菲薄，引喻失义，以塞忠谏之路也。

The emperors of the Western Han
chose their courtiers wisely,
and their dynasty flourished.
The emperors of the Eastern Han
chose poorly, and they doomed the empire to ruin.
亲贤臣，远小人，此先汉所以兴隆也；
亲小人，远贤臣，此后汉所以倾颓也。

Whenever the late Emperor
discussed this problem with me,
he lamented the failings of Emperors Huan and Ling.
先帝在时，每与臣论此事，
未尝不叹息痛恨于桓、灵也。

I began as a common man,
farming in my fields in Nanyang,
doing what I could to
survive in an age of chaos.
I never had any interest in making a name
for myself as a noble.
臣本布衣，躬耕于南阳，
苟全性命于乱世，不求闻达于诸侯。

The late Emperor was not ashamed
to visit my cottage and seek my advice.
Grateful for his regard,
I responded to his appeal
and threw myself into his service.
先帝不以臣卑鄙，猥自枉屈，三顾臣于草庐之中，
咨臣以当世之事，由是感激，遂许先帝以驱驰。

The late Emperor always appreciated my caution
and, in his final days,
entrusted me with his cause.
先帝知臣谨慎，故临崩寄臣以大事也。

Since that moment,
I have been tormented day and night by the fear
that I might let him down.
That is why I crossed the Lu river
at the height of summer,
and entered the wastelands beyond.
受命以来，夙夜忧叹，恐托付不效，
以伤先帝之明，故五月渡泸，深入不毛。

Now the south has been subdued,
and our forces are fully armed.
I should lead our soldiers
to conquer the northern heartland
and attempt to remove the hateful traitors,
restore the house of Han,
and return it to the former capital.
今南方已定，兵甲已足，
当奖率三军，北定中原，
庶竭驽钝，攘除奸凶，
兴复汉室，还于旧都。

This is the way I mean to honor my debt
to the late Emperor and fulfill my duty to you.
此臣所以报先帝而忠陛下之职分也。

My only desire is to be permitted
to drive out the traitors
and restore the Han.
If I should let you down,
punish my offense and report it
to the spirit of the late Emperor.
愿陛下托臣以讨贼兴复之效，
不效，则治臣之罪，以告先帝之灵。

Your Majesty,
consider your course of action carefully.
Seek out good advice,
and never forget the late words of the late Emperor.
I depart now on a long expedition,
and I will be forever grateful
if you heed my advice.
Blinded by my own tears,
I know not what I write.
陛下亦宜自谋，以咨诹善道，察纳雅言。
深追先帝遗诏，臣不胜受恩感激。
今当远离，临表涕零，不知所言。

With People In Challenging Times

It can be difficult to make friends
living in a big city,
especially when you
don’t know many people.
生活在一个大城市里

Over years of experience
and studying social skills,
I discovered
that it’s possible to make friends
without even trying.

There are just a few strategies
that you have to use on
a consistent basis.

That’s what I’ll outline a few simple steps.

Be seen without trying
to get attention.

You don’t have to say anything witty
or interesting to get people’s attention,
all you have to do
is place yourself in environments
where people will see you.

such as the supermarket
or your yoga studio.

if you knew nobody would judge you?

Truth be told, no one has the right to judge you.
People may have heard your stories,
but they can’t feel what you are going through;
they aren’t living YOUR life.

So forget what they say about you.
Focus on how you feel about yourself,
and do what you know in your heart is right.

4. Lock yourself away from the world
and work on your goals.

but realize that short term,
realistic goals are the key to success.

才是通向成功的关键

Success is directly connected with daily action.
The way we spend our time defines who we are.
成功与日常工作密切相关
我们利用时间的方式
也就决定了我们的未来

Successful people keep moving,
by doing small things every day
that bring them a couple steps
closer to their dream.
不积跬步无以至千里
成功的人不断前行
一步一步成就他们的梦想

They make mistakes along the way,
but they don’t quit – they learn and press on.
他们犯了错误不退却
而是总结经验鞭策自己

5. Adjust your goals
and dreams as life changes.
随时调整目标与梦想来适应生活。

A great deal of pain in life
comes from having a specific dream
that you’ve fallen in love with,
and when it doesn’t work out exactly as planned,
you become angry that you now have to pursue a different path.
生活中的很多痛苦
来自于拥有一个明确的、让你无法自拔的梦想
当梦想不能如期实现时
你会感到气恼
不得不再去寻求另一种途径以期实现梦想

If you want to tame your inner demons
and make the most of life,
you must not become rigidly
attached to just one specific dream,
and remain open to there being an even better,
equally as happy path ahead.
如果想让自己心平气和地过好每一天
你绝对不能固守一个特定的梦想
要向更美好的梦想敞开胸怀
正可谓幸福之路就在脚下

Life is unpredictable,
but it provides plenty of opportunities
to make dreams come true.
生活不可预知
但它却提供各种机遇
使你梦想成真

Just don’t forget
that sometimes taking a positive step forward
requires you to slightly adjust your dreams,
or plan new ones
– it’s OK to change your mind
or have more than one dream.
别忘记
有时对梦想略做些调整或构思一些新梦想
是向前迈出积极一步的必要条件
改变想法或拥有不只一个梦想不是件坏事情

6. Forgive those who have wronged you.
宽恕曾误解你的人。

Forgiveness is a gift you give yourself.
Forgiveness is an attribute of the strong and wise.
Forgiveness allows you to focus on the future
without combating the past.
宽恕是自己为自己送上的礼物
宽恕是强者和智者的品质
宽恕让你放手过去着眼未来

To understand the potential
of everything going forward
is to forgive everything already behind you.
要理解正在发生发展的事物的潜力
就不要纠缠于过去

Without forgiveness,
wounds can never be healed,
and moving on can never be accomplished.
没有宽恕
伤口永远无法愈合
前进就是空谈

What happened in the past
is just one chapter.
Don’t close the book,
just turn the page.
发生过的事仅是书中的一个章节
不要把书合上
请把它翻到下一页

7. Show everyone your love and kindness.
向大家表示你的友爱和友善。

If you are reserving your love only for
those who you have decided are worthy of it
– all strangers excluded –
it may come as a surprise to learn
that this is not love at all,
it is called judgment.
如果你只把爱留给那些你认为值得去爱的人
把所有陌生人被拒之门外
你可能会惊奇地发现
这根本不是爱，而是评判

Judgment is selective,
love is all embracing.
评判是选择
爱是拥抱

Just as the sunlight
and the wind do not discriminate,
true love does not
make any such distinctions either.
Love and kindness is a way of living.
Where there is love,
there is no judgment.
Where there is judgment, there is no love.
真爱如阳光和风一样没有偏颇
爱与友善是一种生活方式
评判与爱不能共存

8. Stand up for others,
even if it’s the unpopular thing to do.
即使不被理解
也要为他人挺身而出

Sometimes you will say
something really small and simple,
but it will fit right into an empty space
in someone’s heart.
有时一些实际上小而简单的话语
却会触动某个人的心灵

Dare to reach into the darkness,
to pull someone else into the light.
Remember, strong people stand up for themselves,
but stronger people stand up for others too,
and lend a hand when they’re able.
要敢于走入黑暗，将身处其中的人引向光明
记住，强者为自己挺身而出
但强者中强者会为他人挺身而出
而且在他们有能力时会向你伸出援手

9. Fight through your failures.
不服输。

When you are feeling down
or dealing with failure,
don’t be ashamed.
当你感到沮丧或面对失败时
不要感到羞愧

There’s nothing to be ashamed of.
You are going through a difficult time,
and you are still pushing forward.
没有什么好羞愧的
你正在经历艰辛
你仍在前行

That’s something to be proud of –
that you are fighting through it
and slowly rising above it.
这是值得你骄傲的是
你在努力战胜失败
一步步走出困境

Let everyone know
that today you are a lot stronger
than you were yesterday,
and you will be.
让大家知道
今天的你比昨天更坚强
而且会越来越坚强

10. Keep your head held high
and keep on smiling.
昂首挺胸 笑对人生

Every day of your life
is a page of your history.
The only time you run out of chances
is when you stop taking them.
生活中的每一天
都会成为你历史的一页
当你停止争取机会时
机会也将弃你而去

Don’t cry over the past,
cry to get over the past.
Don’t smile to hide the pain,
smile to heal the pain.
不要为过去哭泣
含泪挥别过去
不要用微笑隐藏痛苦
要用微笑治愈痛苦

Don’t think of all the sadness in the world,
think of all the beauty
that still remains around you.
不要思虑世界的悲哀
要沉浸于身边的美好

You must understand:
Being angry doesn't do you any good
because it changes nothing.

If you don't like what's happening,
then try to identify the problem
and find a way to deal with it.
如果你不喜欢现状
那就去找到问题的根源
然后试着解决它


That's the only way out.
