雨中的记忆
RUN THROUGH THE RAIN

She had been shopping with her Mom in Wal-Mart.
她和妈妈刚在沃尔玛结束购物。


She must have been 6 years old, this beautiful brown haired, freckle-faced image of innocence. It was pouring outside.
这个天真的小女孩应该6岁大了，头发是美丽的棕色，脸上有雀斑。


The kind of rain that gushes over the top of rain gutters, so much in a hurry to hit the Earth, it has no time to flow down the spout.
外面下着倾盆大雨。雨水溢满了檐槽，来不及排走，就迫不及待地涌涨上地面。


We all stood there under the awning and just inside the door of the Wal-Mart.
我们都站在沃尔玛门口的遮篷下。


We all waited, some patiently, others irritated, because nature messed up their hurried day.
大家都在等待，有人很耐心，有人很烦躁，因为老天在给他们本已忙碌的一天添乱。


I am always mesmerized by rainfall. I get lost in the sound and sight of the heavens
washing away the dirt and dust of the world.
雨天总引起我的遐思。我出神地听着、看着老天，冲刷洗涤这世界的污垢和尘埃，



Memories of running, splashing so carefree as a child come pouring in as a welcome
reprieve from the worries of my day.
孩时无忧无虑地在雨中奔跑玩水的记忆汹涌而至，
暂时缓解了我一天的焦虑。


Her voice was so sweet as it broke the hypnotic trance we were all caught in, “Mom, let's run through the rain.' she said.
小女孩甜美的声音打破了这令人昏昏欲睡的气氛，“妈妈，我们在雨里跑吧。”她说。


'What?' Mom asked.
“什么?”母亲问。

'Let's run through the rain!' She repeated.
“我们在雨里跑吧，”她重复。


'No, honey. We'll wait until it slows down a bit.' Mom replied.
“不，亲爱的，我们等雨小一点再走。”母亲回答说。


This young child waited about another minute and repeated: 'Mom, let's run through the rain.'
过了一会，小女孩又说：“妈妈，我们跑出去吧。”


'We'll get soaked if we do.' Mom said.
“这样的话我们会湿透的。”母亲说。


'No, we won't, Mom. That's not what you said this morning,' the young girl said
as she tugged at her Mom's arm.'
“不会的，妈妈。你今天早上不是这样说的。”小女孩一边说一边拉着母亲的手。


'This morning? When did I say we could run through the rain and not get wet?'
“今天早上?我什么时候说过我们淋雨不会湿啊?”


'Don't you remember? When you were talking to Daddy about his cancer, you said,
If God can get us through this, he can get us through anything!'
“你不记得了吗？你和爸爸谈他的癌症时，你不是说‘如果上帝让我们闯过这一关，那我们就没有什么过不去。’”


The entire crowd stopped dead silent. I swear you couldn't hear anything but the rain.
We all stood silently.
人群一片寂静。我发誓，除了雨声，你什么都听不到。我们都静静地站着。




No one came or left in the next few minutes. Mom paused and thought for a moment about what she would say.
接下来的几分钟没有一个人走动。母亲停了一下，想着应该说些什么。


Now some would laugh it off and scold her for being silly. Some might even ignore what was said.
有人也许会对此一笑了之，或者责备这孩子的不懂事，有人甚至不把她的话放在心上。


But this was a moment of affirmation in a young child's life. Time when innocent trust can be nurtured so that it will bloom into faith.
但这却是一个小孩子一生中需要被肯定的时候。若受到鼓舞，此时孩子单纯的信任就会发展成为坚定的信念。


'Honey, you are absolutely right. Let's run through the rain. If get wet, well maybe we just needed washing.' Mom said. Then off they ran.
“亲爱的，你说得对，我们跑过去吧。如果淋湿了，那也许是因为我们的确需要冲洗一下了。”母亲说。然后她们就冲出去了。


We all stood watching, smiling and laughing as they darted past the cars. They held their shopping bags over their heads just in case. They got soaked.
我们站在那里，笑着看她们飞快地跑过停着的汽车。她们把购物袋高举过头想挡挡雨，但还是湿透了。


But they were followed by a few who screamed and laughed like children all the way to their cars.
好几个人像孩子般，尖叫着，大笑着，也跟着冲了出去，奔向自己的车子


And yes, I did. I ran. I got wet. I needed washing.
当然，我也这样做了，跑了出去，淋湿了。我也需要接受洗礼。




Circumstances or people can take away your material possessions, they can take away your money, and they can take away your health. But no one can ever take away your precious memories.
环境或其他人可以夺去你的物质财富，抢走你的金钱，带走你的健康，但没有人可以带走你珍贵的回忆。


So, don't forget to make time and take the opportunities to make memories every day!
因此，记得要抓紧时间，抓住机会每天都给自己留下一些回忆吧


To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under heaven.
I hope you still take the time to run through the rain.
世间万物皆有自己的季节，做任何事情也有一个恰当的时机。
希望你有机会在雨中狂奔一回。

每条路都是回家的路


When I was a boy
there were no smart phones, computers
or something you saw on STAR TREK,
and our television only got one channel clearly.
当我还是个小男孩的时候，
没有智能电话、电脑，也没有什么东西能够播放“星球大战”，
电视只有一个频道是清楚的。


Still, I was never bored.
The fields, hills, and woodlands around my home
were the perfect playground whose adventures
were only limited by my imagination.
即使这样，我也不觉得无聊。
家附近的田野、山坡、林地都是极佳的玩耍场所，
只有想不到，
没有玩不到的冒险。


I can remember once hiking to a nearby lake
and slowly walking around it.
At the backside of it I was amazed
to find an old, one lane, dirt road
that I had never seen before.
我还记得有次徒步去附近的一个湖，
我沿着湖边慢慢地走着，
在湖的后部沿岸，
我惊奇的发现之前没有的一条上了些年头的草坪泥泞路。


I immediately set out to travel it.
It was full of potholes and muddy tire tracks
and deep woods bordered it on both sides,
but exploring it still seemed like a fine adventure.
我当即就决定去走走
这条路上遍布凹坑以及泥巴上的轮胎印
在路的两边类似分界线般的扎根的植物
这不失为一个冒险的好场所


I walked on and on for what seemed like hours.
I am sure my guardian angel
was whispering in my ear
to turn around and head back home
but I was stubborn and even a bit stupid,
so I walked on.
我走啊走，可能有好几个小时，
守护我安全的小天使在我耳边低语，
让我掉头回家，
但我执拗，
甚至显得有些愚蠢，
依然执意往前走。


The dirt road gave way to a gravel one
and then a paved one,
yet there was still neither a car
nor a house in sight.
泥泞的路走着走着，渐渐变成了砂石路
又慢慢变成了平路
但是目力所及之处未见车和房子。


My legs were getting tired.
I noticed that the sun
was starting to go down and I grew scared.
我走得双腿疲累，
太阳开始下山了，
我开始害怕起来，


I didn't want to end up trapped on this road in the dark of night,
but I was sure it would be dark
before I could make my way back to the lake again.
我不想等天黑以后困在这条路上
但是如果现在往回
天黑前也回不到湖边。


I continued to walk on
with the fear growing inside of me.
My heart was pounding and my legs were aching.
我继续朝前走着，恐惧在我心理蔓延，
心跳加速，双腿疼痛


I was almost in tears when I turned one last curve
and saw something in the distance.
It was a house that I recognized.
泪水几乎要夺眶而出，
我最后抬头一瞥，
远处好像有什么东西，
我认出那是一幢房子。


My heart leapt up!
I jumped up and down and laughed out loud.
I knew the way home!
我激动不已，上窜下跳，
高兴地笑出了声，
我认得这是回家的路。


It was still over a mile away
but my legs felt like feathers
and I hurried back to my house in no time.
尽管还要一英里才能到家，我的腿却像羽毛般轻快
我迫不及待地回到家里


I walked in with a big smile on my face
just in time for dinner.
Then I ended my adventure
with a good night’s sleep.
走进家中，
喜悦之情溢于言表，
而且正好赶上晚上的饭点。
我的冒险以晚上的一场酣睡收尾。


I remembered this recently
when I saw a sign that said:
“All roads lead Home.”
我记得最近见过的一则标语是这样说的
“所有的路都是回家的路。”


This is true.
In this life all roads no matter what their twists and turns
can lead us home again.
They can lead us to our homes here on Earth.
They can lead us to our homes in our hearts.
确实是这样
这辈子所有的路不管怎样波折
最终都会引导着我们回家
有的是回到地球上看得见摸得着的家
有的是回到心里的家。


May you always walk your path with love.
May you always help your fellow travelers along the way.
And may your roads always lead you Home again.
愿你的人生之路都有爱为伴，
愿你在旅途中帮助同路人，
愿你人生中的一段又一段旅程都是通往“家”的旅程。

Do something for yourself

As a little boy, there was nothing I liked better
than Sunday aftemoons
at my grandfather's farm in western Pennsylvania.
我小时候最喜欢在爷爷的农场里度过每个星期天的下午。
爷爷的农场在宾夕法尼亚州西部。


Surrounded by miles of winding stonewalls,
the house and barn provided endless hours of fun
for a city kid like me.
农场四周都围上了绵延几英里的石墙。
房子和谷仓给我这个城市男孩带来了无穷的快乐时光。


I was used to parlors neat as a pin
that seemed to whisper, 'Not to be touched!'
我习惯了城里整洁的客厅
似乎在低声说：“不要摸!”。


I can still remember one afternoon
when I was eight years old.
Since my first visit to the farm,
I'd wanted more than anything to be allowed
to climb the stonewalls
surrounding the property.
我仍能记得我8岁那年一天下午的情景
因为我第一次去农场
所以我很想上那农场四周的那些石墙。


My parents would never approve.
The walls were old,
some stones were missing,
others loose and crumbling.
可我的父母是绝不会同意的
这些墙年深日久

Still, my yearning to scramble across
those walls grew so strong.
然而，我渴望这些墙的欲望非常强烈。


One spring afternoon,
I summoned all my courage
and entered the living room,
where the adults had gathered after dinner.

大人们午饭后都聚在这里


'I, uh, I want to climb the stonewalls,'
I said hesitantly.
“我，呃，我想爬那些石墙，”
我犹豫地说道


Everyone looked up.
'Can I climb the stonewalls?'
大家都抬起头。
“我能去爬那些石墙吗?”


Instantly a chorus went up from the women in the room.
'Heavens, no!' they cried in dismay.
'You'll hurt yourself!'
屋里的女人们马上齐声叫了起来
“天哪，不能!”她们惊慌地叫着
“你会伤着自己的!”


I wasn't too disappointed
the response was just as I'd expected.
我并没有太失望，我早就预料会是这样的回答。


But before I could leave the room,
I was stopped by my grandfather' s booming voice.
但还没等我离开客厅
爷爷低沉的声音拦住了我


'Hold on just a minute,'
I heard him say,
'Let the boy climb the stonewalls.
He has to learn to do things for himself.'
“等一会儿，”
我听到他说
“让孩子爬那些石墙吧。他必须学会自己做一些事。”


'Scoot,' he said to me with a wink,
'and come and see me when you get back.'
“快走吧，”他对我眨眨眼说。
“你回来后找我。”


For the next two and a half hours
I climbed those old walls and had the time of my life.
接下来的两个半小时，
我爬上了这些古老的石墙，别提有多开心。


Later I met with my grandfather
to tell him about my adventure.
I'll never forget what he said.
后来，我把自己冒险经历告诉了爷爷。
我永远也不会忘记他说过的话。


'Fred,' he said, grinning,

'you made this day a special day just by being yourself.
Always remember,
there's only one person in this whole world like you,

Many years have passed since then,
and today I host the television program
Mister Rogers' Neighborhood,
seen by millions of children throughout America.

全美国几百万儿童都会收看。


There have been changes over the years,
but one thing remains the same:
几年过后，节目已经发生了一些变化，但有一点没变：


my message to children at the end of almost every visit,
'There's only one person in this whole world like you,
and people can like you exactly as you are.'

All the Difference in The World

Every Sunday morning
I take a light jog around a park near my home.
There's a lake located in one corner of the park.
每个星期日的早晨
我都会绕着我家附近的公园轻松地慢跑。
公园的一角有一片湖。


Each time I jog by this lake,
I see the same elderly woman
sitting at the water's edge
with a small metal cage sitting beside her.
每当我慢跑经过这片湖，
都会看到同一个老妇人，
身边放着一个金属笼子坐在湖边。


This past Sunday my curiosity got the best of me,
so I stopped jogging and walked over to her.
上个星期日我终于忍不住好奇，
停止了慢跑，走到她身边。

As I got closer,
I realized that the metal cage was in fact a small trap.
走近时我发现金属笼子其实是一个小陷阱。


There were three turtles, unharmed,
slowly walking around the base of the trap.
三只乌龟安然无恙
绕着陷阱底部慢悠悠地爬着。


She had a fourth turtle in her lap
that she was carefully scrubbing
with a spongy brush.
她正认真地用海绵刷擦拭着第四只趴在她膝盖上的乌龟。


'Hello,' I said.
'If you don't mind my nosiness,
I'd love to know what you're doing with these turtles.'
“你好啊，”我说,
“如果你不介意我多管闲事的话，
我很想知道你在对这些乌龟做什么呢。”


She smiled.
' I'm cleaning off their shells,'
she replied.
“我在清洗他们的壳，”
她笑着回答说。


'Anything on a turtle's shell,
like algae or scum, reduces
the turtle's ability to absorb heat
and impedes its ability to swim.
It can also corrode
and weaken the shell over time.'
任何乌龟壳上，像海藻、泡沫浮渣这些东西，
都会减弱乌龟的吸热能力并且阻碍他们游动，
时间长了还会腐蚀龟壳，
让龟壳变得脆弱。


She went on:
'I spend a couple of hours each Sunday morning,
relaxing by this lake and helping these little guys out.
It's my own strange way of making a difference.'
她继续说道：“每个星期天早晨我都会花几个小时待在湖边
边放松自己，边帮这些小家伙摆脱困难。
这就是我奇怪的制造改变的方式。”


'But don't most freshwater turtles
live their whole lives with algae and scum
hanging from their shells?' I asked.

'Yep, sadly, they do,' she replied.

'Well then, don't you think
your time could be better spent?
And 99% of these turtles
don't have kind people like you
to help them clean off their shells.

So, no offense…
but how exactly are your localized efforts here
truly making a difference?'

The woman giggled aloud.
老妇人大声咯咯笑起来。


She then looked down at the turtle in her lap,
scrubbed off the last piece of algae from its shell,
and said, 'Sweetie, if this little guy could talk,
he'd tell you
I just made all the difference in the world.'
接着她看看膝盖上的乌龟，
把龟壳上的最后一块海藻擦拭干净，
说道：“亲爱的，如果这只小乌龟会说话的话，
它一定会告诉你我刚刚改变了整个世界。”

I`ve learned that sometimes all a person need
is a hand to hold and a heart to understand .
我明白了有时一个人所需要的仅仅是一只可以紧握的手
和一颗能够互相理解的心。

I`ve learned that
the Lord didn`t do it all in one day.
What makes me think I can?
我明白了上帝并不是一天就创造了世界。
我又何必认定自己能在一天之内做好所有的事情呢?

I`ve learned that love,not time,heals all wounds.
我明白了能够治愈一切创伤的是爱，而不是时间。

I`ve learned that every one you meet deserves to be greeted with a smile.
我明白了遇到的每一个人都值得用微笑去面对。

I`ve learned that there&`&s nothing sweeter than sleeping with your babies
and feeling their breath on your cheeks.
我明白了没有比跟孩子睡在一起
并感觉他们的呼吸在脸旁更为甜美的事情了。


I`ve learned that no one is perfect
until you fall in love with them.
我明白了只有你爱的人才可称为完美。

I`ve learned that opportunities are never lost;
someone will take the ones you miss.
我明白了机会从来不会自己消失
你错过的机会将被别人抓住。

I`ve learned that when you harbor bitterness,
happiness will dock elsewhere .
我明白了当你心怀悲苦时
幸福就会停靠在别的港湾。

I`ve learned that I wish I could have told my Mom
that I love her one more time before she passed away.
我明白了自己真该在母亲去世前再告诉她一次我爱她。

I`ve learned that one should keep his words both soft and tender,
because tomorrow he may have to eat them.
我明白了一个人应该小心翼翼地遵守自己的诺言
因为也许第二天他就要自食其言了。

I`ve learned that a smile is an inexpensive way
to improve your looks.
我明白了微笑是一种廉价的美容方式。



I've learned that I can't choose how I feel,
but I can choose what I do about it.
我明白了，我不能选择自己有何感受
但能选择如何对待它。

I've learned that everyone wants to stand on top of the mountain,
but all the happiness and growth occurs while you're climbing it .
我明白了每个人都想站在山顶上
但所有的幸福与成长都发生在攀登的过程中。

I've learned that it is best to give advice in only two circumstances:
when it is requested and when it is a life threatening situation.
我明白了最好在两种情形下给人以忠告
一是别人要求时，一是性命攸关时。

I've learned that the less time I have to work with,
the more things I get done.
我明白了花费时间越少
我的工作效率就越高。

Dear Myself,
亲爱的自己


Life is scary. One day you wake up feeling like you can take over the world, and the next day you wake up feeling like all you want to do is to lay in bed and hide from everything.
生活让人感到未知的恐惧。或许一天醒来你还觉得自己能够接管整个世界，但隔天起来的时候，你可能就只想在床上躺着，把所有的事搁置一边。




People walk into your life, grab your hand, and lead you the most beautiful path you&`&ve known, but sometimes the same people let go of your hand without warning, and you become stranded at a place where you never thought you&`&d feel lost.
有人走入你的生活，抓着你的手，向你展示和分享已知的美好人生之路。但有时同样是这个人，在你毫无准备的情况下放开你的手，你被困在当下，陷入从未想过的人生会如此迷惘之中。




Let&`&s be honest, sometimes everything is going so great and it seems like nothing could go wrong , but right when you begin to think that, something so horrible comes crashing down and all of a sudden more problems come ricocheting around you and you just feel so hopeless cause it&`&s so bad...
诚然，有时候一切看起来顺风顺水，当你这样认为的时候，一些不如意的事情可能就会接踵而至，一下让你难以接受，万念俱灰。




It&`&s so hard to understand why such things happen in life,and I personally wish I had an answer to that &`&why?&`& you always ask yourself , but all I can say that is no matter how hard life gets,you have to keep going. The life around you will never stop going on.
生活真是让人费解，一念天堂，一念地狱。我真心希望自己能领悟生活为什么会这样。但无论生活怎样艰难，你也只能坚持着。毕竟生活一直在继续。




I&`&ll be honest and say that sometimes I feel a little bit worried and all I can think is &`&will I be able to keep up? What if everything goes too fast?&`& But I realized that being scared and living with that burden of running away from problems only slow me down even more.
老实说我总是有点担心，我所想的就是“我还能不能坚持？如果一切都这样超出自我控制的快速发展着怎么办?” 但我意识到，老是这样战战兢兢，回避问题，反而让自己更加跟不上节奏。




And I&`&ve come to the point where I believe that because life never stops, I shouldn&`&t stop either. It&`&s okay to take break and to give yourself time to heal, but you cannot give up and you cannot quit.
而且关键在于生活不止，追求不息。停下来休息一会儿，或是抽点时间自愈下没有问题，但是你不能放弃，且一定不要放弃。




Keep positive, fill you heart with gratitude for what you already have, and always remind to humble and true to who you are！
你能做的是，保持积极乐观，常怀感恩之心，保持谦卑，活出真我！

Sometimes I really doubt whether there is love between my parents. Every day they are very busy trying to earn money in order to pay the high tuition for my brother and me.
有时候，我真的怀疑父母之间是否有真爱。他们天天忙于赚钱，为我和弟弟支付学费。


They don't act in the romantic ways that I read in books or I see on TV. In their opinion, 'I love you' is too luxurious for them to say. Sending flowers to each other on Valentine's Day is even more out of the question.
他们从未像我在书中读到，或在电视中看到的那样互诉衷肠。他们认为”我爱你”太奢侈，很难说出口。更不用说在情人节送花这样的事了。


Finally my father has a bad temper. When he's very tired from the hard work, it is easy for him to lose his temper.
我父亲的脾气非常坏。经过一天的劳累之后，他经常会发脾气。


One day, my mother was sewing a quilt. I silently sat down beside her and looked at her.
一天，母亲正在缝被子，我静静地坐在她旁边看着她。


'Mom, I have a question to ask you,' I said after a while.

'What?' she replied, still doing her work.

'Is there love between you and Dad?' I asked her in a very low voice.

My mother stopped her work and raised her head with surprise in her eyes. She didn't answer immediately. Then she bowed her head and continued to sew the quilt.

I was very worried because I thought I had hurt her. I was in a great embarrassment and I didn't know what I should do. But at last I heard my mother say the following words:

'Susan,' she said thoughtfully, 'Look at this thread.Sometimes it appears, but most of it disappears in the quilt. The thread really makes the quilt strong and durable. If life is a quilt, then love should be a thread. It can hardly be seen anywhere or anytime, but it’s really there. Love is inside.'

I listened carefully but I couldn't understand her until the next spring.

At that time, my father suddenly got sick seriously. My mother had to stay with him in the hospital for a month.

When they returned from the hospital, they both looked very pale. It seemed both of them had had a serious illness.

After they were back, every day in the morning and dusk, my mother helped my father walk slowly on the country road.

My father had never been so gentle. It seemed they were the most harmonious couple.

Along the country road, there were many beautiful flowers, green grass and trees.

The sun gently glistened through the leaves. All of these made up the most beautiful picture in the world.

The doctor had said my father would recover in two months. But after two months he still couldn't walk by himself. All of us were worried about him.

'Dad, how are you feeling now?' I asked him one day.
有一天，我问他：“爸爸，你感觉怎么样?”


'Susan, don't worry about me.' he said gently. 'To tell you the truth, I just like walking with your mom. I like this kind of life.' Reading his eyes, I know he loves my mother deeply.
他温和地说：“苏珊，不用为我担心。跟你说吧，我喜欢与你妈妈一块散步的感觉。我喜欢这种生活。”从他的眼神里，我看得出他对母亲的爱之深刻。


Once I thought love meant flowers, gifts and sweet kisses. But from this experience, I understand that love is just a thread in the quilt of our life. Love is inside, making life strong and warm..
我曾经认为爱情就是鲜花、礼物和甜蜜的亲吻。但是从那一刻起，我明白了，爱情就像是生活中被子里的一根线。爱情就在里面，使生活变得坚固而温暖。

Once upon a time the colors of the world started to quarrel. ­All claimed that they were the best. ­The most important. ­The most useful. ­The favorite. ­
从前，世界上的各种颜色进行过一次争吵。 ­每一种颜色都说自己是最好的，最重要的，­最有用的，和最讨人喜欢的。


Green said: ­'Clearly I am the most important. I am the sign of life and of hope. I was chosen for grass, trees and leaves. Without me, all animals would die. Look over the countryside and you will see that I am in the majority.'
绿色说： ­“显然，我是最重要的。我是生命和希望的标志。我被选作青草，树木以及叶子的颜色。没有了我，所有的动物都会死去。展望田野吧，你会看到，到处都有我。”


Blue interrupted: ­'You only think about the earth, but consider the sky and the sea. It is the water that is the basis of life and drawn up by the clouds from the deep sea. The sky gives space and peace and serenity. Without my peace, you would all be nothing.'

Yellow chuckled: ­'You are all so serious. I bring laughter, gaiety, and warmth into the world. The sun is yellow, the moon is yellow, the stars are yellow. Every time you look at a sunflower, the whole world starts to smile. Without me there would be no fun.'
黄色咯咯地笑出了声：“你们都太严肃了。我给这个世界带来了笑声、欢乐和温暖。太阳是黄色的，月亮是黄色的，星星是黄色的，每一次你看向日葵的时候，整个世界都开始欢笑。没有我就没有快乐。”


Orange started next to blow her trumpet: ­'I am the color of health and strength. I may be scarce, but I am precious for I serve the needs of human life. I carry the most important vitamins. Think of carrots, pumpkins, oranges, mangoes, and papayas. I don’t hang around all the time, but when I fill the sky at sunrise or sunset, my beauty is so striking that no one gives another thought to any of you.'
橙色马上开始自吹自擂： ­“我可是健康和力量的颜色。我可能比较稀少，但是我非常宝贵，因为我满足了人们生活的需要。我携带了大多数重要的维他命。想想胡罗卜、南瓜、柑橘、芒果和番木瓜。我并不经常出没在天空，但日出或日落我在天际登场时，我的美丽足以惊世，没有人还会想起你们。”



Red could stand it no longer he shouted out: ­'I am the ruler of all of you. I am blood - life’s blood! I am the color of danger and of bravery. I am willing to fight for a cause. I bring fire into the blood. Without me, the earth would be as empty as the moon. I am the color of passion and of love, the red rose, the poinsettia and the poppy.'
红色再也忍不下去了，他喊道： ­“我，是你们所有人的主宰。我是血液——生命的血液！我是危险和勇敢的颜色。我愿意为了一个目标而斗争。我把烈火带入血液。没有了我，地球会象月亮一样变得空虚。我是激情和爱的颜色，是红玫瑰、猩猩木和罂粟。


Purple rose up to his full height: ­He was very tall and spoke with great pomp: 'I am the color of royalty and power. Kings, chiefs, and bishops have always chosen me for I am the sign of authority and wisdom. People do not question me! They listen and obey.'
紫色站起身来： ­他非常高，说起话来风度十足：“我是王权和力量的象征。国王、酋长、主教都选择了我，因为我象征着权威和智慧。人们不会对我提出疑问，他们只能聆听和服从。” ­
　　

Finally Indigo spoke, much more quietly than all the others, but with just as much determination: 'Think of me. I am the color of silence. You hardly notice me, but without me you all become superficial. I represent thought and reflection, twilight and deep water. You need me for balance and contrast, for prayer and inner peace.'
最后，靛青说话了，他的声音比其他人都轻，但却比其他人都斩钉截铁： ­“想想我吧。我是沉默的颜色。你们几乎注意不到我，但是如果没有我，你们全都会变得肤浅。我代表着思想和反省，代表者黎明的微光和深邃的海水。你们需要我来平衡和比较，来祈祷和获求内心的安宁。” ­


And so the colors went on boasting, each convinced of his or her own superiority. Their quarreling became louder and louder. Suddenly there was a startling flash of bright lightening thunder rolled and boomed. Rain started to pour down relentlessly. The colors crouched down in fear, drawing close to one another for comfort.
这样一来，颜色们就不停地自夸，每个人都深信自己无比优越。他们的争吵声越来越大。突然，电闪雷鸣。雨无情地倾盆而下。颜色们惊恐地蜷缩起来，彼此挤在一起捱过着恐怖的时刻。


In the midst of the clamor, rain began to speak: ­'You foolish colors, fighting amongst yourselves, each trying to dominate the rest. Don’t you know that you were each made for a special purpose, unique and different? Join hands with one another and come to me.'
在一片喧嚣声中，雨开始说话了： ­“你们这些愚蠢的颜色，彼此相互争斗，每个人都想支配别人。你们难道就不知道每个人都是天造地设，都是独一无二，彼此不同的吗？携起手来吧。” ­



Doing as they were told, the colors united and joined hands. ­The rain continued: ­'From now on, when it rains, each of you will stretch across the sky in a great bow of color as a reminder that you can all live in peace. The Rainbow is a sign of hope for tomorrow.' And so, whenever a good rain washes the world, and a Rainbow appears in the sky, let us remember to appreciate one another.
颜色们按照着雨的话，团结在一起，携起手来。 ­雨接着说：“从现在开始，每次下雨的时候你们都要变成一个巨大的彩色弓形横跨天空，以证明你们能够和平相处。彩虹就是未来希望的标志。”所以，每当大雨冲刷这个世界时，彩虹都会出现在天空，让我们记住彼此要珍惜。
