This weeks guest is someone who I felt I knew so well so I was excited and ready to meet her. I had read her book and fell in love with it. I was so inspired by how she overcame some of the biggest struggles in her life.

Sitting right in front of me with one of the biggest smiles, this beautiful human is none other than Menaca Pothalingham.

Menaca Pothalingham knows what it means to start over. She was already an adult when the civil war in her home country of Sri Lanka began and forced her to uproot her life and move to India. In India, she obtained a university degree, but not without struggle. Starting in a new country and learning a new language was not easy but Menaca always knew she wanted to find a way to help others and ultimately she found her gift.

Her best selling book, Resilience Learned is a beautiful and heartfelt story of her own struggle of a young girl growing in hostile surroundings. Her only goal was to survive and keep going no matter what.

After moving to the UK now married, she created an amazing six-figure business as a successful dentist working in her own practice. At the same time, she gave birth to her daughter and life became difficult to balance. She continued to work hard until oneway, she burnt out.

While she was off sick, Menaca attended a self-development event and this is when her life took a complete 360-degree turn...

So What's the story behind this mums ethos on bringing up kids and then eventually opening up a child care business that supports this ethos...

In the beginning, Janthea and her husband Steve Brigden had well established acting careers. After starting their family, they became increasingly frustrated with being unable to source childcare to attend auditions.

Janthea realised that leaving children in someone else’s care was a huge leap of faith and parents needed to be able to trust and relax, to enjoy the event they were attending. A gap in the market was spotted for mobile/event childcare and Nipperbout was born.

Nipperbout was conceived in 1992 and has grown from a boutique family business to a nationally recognised, award winning company that cares for over 10,000 children a year.

As well as starting her own business, Janthea delivered courses to parents and professionals for Parent Line Plus (a national family support charity). This experience proved invaluable when developing the philosophies and services of Nipperbout as it is today.

Since inception, Nipperbout have provided childcare for a huge range of blue chip clients, many of whom have remained with them from the start. This demonstrates the benefits of strong values, excellent standards and the ability to keep ahead of industry developments.
