  • Parenting without Yelling

    Are you the yelling mom?

So often, I hear from moms that they feel like all they do is yell at their kids. While we are caught up in the emotions, sometimes it seems like it's the only option. But the good news is that there are other ways to get your kids to listen without yelling! They call today's guest Sharon Silver The Parent Whisperer. She has the unique ability to see things through a child's eyes, allowing her to understand and express what kids that age are too young to articulate. She helps parents replace the reaction habit with a mindfully firm authority so the wounds that informed their childhood are not passed to another generation.

Sharon believes that we all want to be more mindful of what we say and do, and as a result, we've begun exploring the deep need to be honest and supportive. But unfortunately, when it comes to parenting, we're still behind the times; we are still yelling, reacting, and punishing.

Sharon has been a parenting educator, instructor, and coach for 30 years, raised two strong-willed kids, and she says, "If I wasn't perfect at it, and could shift from reacting to responding, anyone can!"

Tune in to learn ways to replace your yelling, still set boundaries and rules, and the magic two-word phrase to stop attitude in its tracks!

  • Boundaries Are Not Optional

Think back on the last week. How many times were you frustrated or annoyed? If the number was higher than you'd like to admit, you must tune into today's episode! Susie Pettit dives into the importance of boundaries for ourselves and our parenting. Susie has been helping women (and lots of moms!) live lives they love for over 10 years. She is the host of the podcast Love Your Life Show and owner of the Wellness Company Strength: Mind & Body, LLC. She is a certified Life + Wellness Coach and a mom of 5 sons ages 17-25.

Susie is passionate about helping women live lives that feel as good on the inside as they look on the outside. She spent more than half her life living a life she did not love; as a people pleaser and codependent perfectionist. She reflects that it's as if she was trying to win an award for 'Martyr of the Year'.

Luckily she hit rock bottom and now has the breadth of experience to teach first hand about setting healthy boundaries, beating your inner critic, conscious parenting, and how to use mindfulness-based tools to beat overwhelm and anxiety. She uses two foundational frameworks: Her 5 Pillars of Wellness and the Thought Model.

We talk about how to set boundaries, where to start, the pushback you might get, and be empowered knowing you don't have to overly explain yourself!
