We hear once again from the big boss of the Flying Squirrels, Todd Parnell aka Parney! He has great things to say about our favorite, Bruce Bochy of the Texas Rangers as well as a good few events happening around RVA this weekend!
MP is on the Mic but far from home in our cozy little studio! He’s coming to us from the Henrico Sports and Events Center in Glen Allen and he has secured an interview with A-10 Commissioner, Bernadette McGlade! She and Michael express their vehement excitement over the way the world of women’s sports is opening up and truly becoming a part of household entertainment as well as the buzz surrounding this new Sports Center in Henrico.
Intro - Parney
15:43 - Damien Sordelett on Hokies football
27:40 - Gary Hess on a big weekend of high school football
31:36 - JC on the Board runs the show, we eat Churro Kit Kats
It is a Victory Friday, folks and Michael Phillips is just jolly as all get out! Our Virginia Tech Hokies conquered the Syracuse Orange in a gorgeous display of athleticism, discipline, and teamwork. With a final of 38-10 in the Hokies’ favor, we can safely call this a shut-out and revel in this VA Victory! We even hear from an emotional head coach, Brent Pry postgame.
What a wonderful Thursday program this has been! MP waxes poetic about how great of an experience this has been and how amazing of a producer JC is (quite possibly the best ever). We get hype for tonight’s Hokies game, turn our attention to tip-off for the Rams, as well as getting those excitement juices flowin’ for the JMU dukes!
Let’s get into the local sports scene with the Czar himself, Gary Hess! Michael and Gary cover subjects such as home field advantage, rivalry, and grudges. We discuss Hopewell and Thomas Dale and the upcoming Friday night lights. Hess is also excited to announce his first time coverage of Benedictine as well as Trinity Episcopal!
We’re back and we’re just rolling right along with a closer look into the NBA than we usually take and shed a little spotlight on Victor Wembanyana aka “Wemby”! He’s the 7 foot 4 San Antonio Spur with a promising future. We also get our tip-off hats on for College Ball around the state of Virginia!
We slide into the 11 o’clock hour with yet another prestigious guest; Craig Hoffman from The Team 980, one of our sister-stations! He and MP need to address multiple critical factors in the Washington Commanders including Del Rio, Rivera, Howell, and many technical critiques.
It’s time for a little non-sports radio! MP is embarrassed having never seen a full episode of the Brady Bunch (live under a rock much?) and he turns the show over to JC for a second. Josh tells the spicy tale of Ed Currie and his recent Guinness World Record Award for The World’s Hottest Pepper: Pepper X. JC and MP also taste test the new Churro Kit-Kat. Listen to their reactions, here!
This show is just full of fantastic guests and one of them is Damien Sordelett of the Roanoke Times! He is here to talk Hokies with Michael Phillips and these two gentlemen carry on a very productive conversation regarding Tech’s likelihood of victory as well as JMU’s undefeated status.
