Who doesn't love an awesome comeback! Although we may not think of a comeback in flowers, I am looking at the mum as the next big flower trend. In years past the chrysanthemum was the staple corsage for homecoming on the football field, and the inexpensive filler for florists.
Today, our domestic flower farmers are working hard to preserve this beauty, and at the same time, they are increasing their production of new varieties and heirlooms. My guests this week, Jessica Hall and Stephanie Duncan of Harmony Harvest Farm share their latest growing season of mums, flower farming, floral frogs, and new mum varieties on the horizon.
In today's chat:
* Mums are a perfect extension at the end of dahlia season
* Heirloom garden mum, royalty free varieties, propagation
* Keep in mind Early, midseason, and late blooming varieties for planning
* Remember June 15th is an important date for planning because of day length changes.
* Don't let perfect stand in the way of good.
