Join me, Alison Elizabeth as we read out of  Psalm 26:2 which says "Prove me, O Lord, and try me; test my heat and my mind."

"Every one in a while it is a good idea to do a quick assessment of your motives and your heart. It’s a good idea to ask yourself, why do you do the things you do.

 

What is causing you to speak that way, behave that way.

 

Are you after the Lord’s heart? Or are you after selfish gain?

 

This Psalm is a cry out to the Lord, for help. I understand this cry, there have been many times in my life where I have simply cried out and asked the Lord to test me. Am I doing things for the right reason, does He really have me here? Or did I bust open a door I wasn’t supposed to?

 

These questions ground me. They help me recenter to Him. They are necessary.

 

Ask Him to test your heart and your mind. If you are reluctant to do so, there might be something you are avoiding. "

"I think its to really show us the power of love. Rater love as no one than this, meaning there is nothing more powerful than loving your neighbor. 

This principle should be applied everywhere you go. Lay down your life for your co-workers. When they have questions, answer them. When they need help, help them. Lay down your life for your family. 

When your sister calls for the 100th time, answer her. Listen to what she has to say. 

All of our relationships could use a little help, no matter how strong the relationship is, either party always has room to grow. So the question is, are we serving the people around us and if not why? What is going on in your own life that has you so distracted and un-whiling to serve?"

"We all know the saying seeing is believing, but our faith is built on an entirely different criteria. We believe and we do not see. We trust in a God we cannot see, but we can feel.

 

Although he may not be a physical man in front of us, his love is present with every gust of wind and sunrise. God is always around. Like this verse says, the joy that we feel is inexpressible.

 

It is hard sometimes to walk blindingly into the unknown but he makes following him easy. Today I pray we walk in the glory of life with him."

"It’s my birthday! 28 years old. I have always admired this number. 

I have been working really hard over the last two years hoping to feel something special about my 28th birthday. I love the number 8 and I have always wanted to be wildly successful before 30. 

As more and more days pass, the more I realize what an empty goal I had been working towards. I am 28, I have a top 50 charted podcast, I am a self-published author, and I have a business yet I don’t feel any special. 

I know that’s because my worth doesn’t come from the things I do, it comes from the actions He did, 2000 years ago. The thing that makes us significant is that Christ laid down his life for us, and we get to do the same for others. Nothing else in this life really matters. 

So I pray this next year of my life, I continue to work hard because I know that will never change, but I pray I lean even closer to God and his people. I pray everyday I lay my life down for the sake of another. It is the greatest gift that we have been given. "

"Quick devo this morning to remind you that in everything, He is God. He is God over our circumstances. Over our mental health. Over our stance on politics. He is God over our addictions and behaviors. He is God.

 

No matter what we face, no matter where we go, He is God.

 

I was having somewhat of a rough day. It was really a great day, but when the leaves of my life start to settle and things get quiet, the anxiety creeps in and sometimes it sinks me. I operate from a place of being self-reliant rather than leaning on God.

 

I must remind myself that in my past, He was God and in my future He is God. He is the one thing I can trust for the rest of my life. He is the only thing that is constant, everything else comes and goes but His character is forever. "

    which yields its fruit in season
and whose leaf does not wither—
    whatever they do prospers."

"But this verse says “in it’s season”, yet it also says “in everything he does, he prospers”

 

What happens when the fruit is not in season? How does He still prosper?

 

Prosperity doesn’t come from the fruit. It comes from the fact that the leaves never wither because of the water.

 

It may not be fruit yielding season my friends, but the living water that runs through us, never lets our leaves whiter, He is the reason we are prosperous. Healthy. Joyful. Prosperity is not fruit, prosperity is living water. "

"The lord is gracious and He keeps His promises.

 

Grace is the one trait that is never ending with Him. Our patience runs thin, we are quick to hold a grudge, grace is not a natural for us. Our friends and family members, co-workers and strangers alike can all get on our last nerve.

 

We exchange harsh words from time to time. We forget that the other person is human and we are quick to share our rude opinions.

 

God is the complete opposite. He is the one power in our corner always fighting for us. Cheering for us. And forgiving us when we do wrong. He extends grace and is gracious.

 

He is a promise keeper, a light in the darkness. "

"Do not laugh at God’s promises. I know sometimes its hard to see it. It’s hard to trust in it. It’s hard to have faith when time just keeps passing by, but if the Lord has something for you, nothing, not even old age will stop Him from blessing you with His promise.

 

If you are praying for a partner, keep praying. If you are hoping for a child, keep hoping. There are many things God has spoken over us. They may not all come to fruition has you have imagined in your head, but God’s promise is all the same.

 

The best part of this verse is when she lies, and he said Yes, you did laugh. He called her out on her lie. God knows all. He sees all. There is no room for laughing and no room for lying. It’s a waste of energy. Instead pray, hard. Grow your faith. Hold onto hope."

Join me, Alison Elizabeth as we read out of Isaiah 63:7 which says "I will tell of the kindnesses of the LORD, the deeds for which he is to be praised, according to all the LORD has done for us."

"You see we all pray, because we need someone to help us and we get to live in the joy that the Lord is our strength.

 

I pray everyday because I know I have trouble with control. I want to control everything around me, that is why I pray for surrender so often.

 

You may pray for a reason entirely different.

 

We all have our things we need help with, but we all have a common power to push us through anything and everything.

 

This verse should be our anthem. I will tell of the kindness of the Lord, the deeds for which he is to be praised, according to all the Lord has done for us.

 

I can take a moment and reflect on all the Lord has done for me, and be overwhelmed with emotion. God is good and there is nothing anyone can tell me to change my stance on the matter. He is good, all the time.

 

My life, your life, this podcast is all a true testimony of the goodness of God. We are all better because of Him."
