This was such a special podcast I recorded with my dad and sister. It might be my #1 favorite podcast so far. Fair warning….you might want tissues!
My little sister, Erica, was diagnosed with a rare form of Leukemia when she was just 3 years old. In this podcast, we brought my dad in to retell the story of what our family went through during this time (I was just 8 years old so don’t remember a lot of the details).
They both went into detail on:
-What it was like for him emotionally to find out his first-born child had been diagnosed with cancer.
-The treatment the hospital in the United States had her do.
-A spiritual experience, high fever, and dream that Erica had that he believes contributed to her remission.
-Explanation of why they chose to bring Erica to Mexico for treatment and what forms of treatment they performed in Mexico.
-What it was physically like for Erica to go through this experience and how that has impacted her physical and mental health for the rest of her life.
We all started crying at various points while we recorded this podcast. I know so many of us have been impacted by cancer, and I hope that sharing this story can bring us all closer together.
So much love,
Natalie
