ND Dem-NPL Chair Warren Larson talks with host Joel Heitkamp about $120 million of missing revenue has not been deposited into two constitutional funds that would benefit schools. "This was at a time when costs in our state were skyrocketing," says Warren. "She chose not to transfer those funds and in my opinion, the only way they could make it up was through property taxes, because that's the only other revenue source schools have."

As part of his statewide education tour, Governor Tim Walz is visiting all cities, urban and rural, across the state of Minnesota to discuss funding K-12 education that is outline in his new budget proposal. Today, Governor Walz was in Moorhead to visit with folks in Moorhead about his budget and how it will positively impact public education in Minnesota.

Now on it's way to the ND Senate, the ND House voted to pass House Concurrent Resolution 3037 by a vote of 67-21. HCR 3037 argues that the Equal Rights Amendment ratified by lawmakers in 1975 actually expired nearly 4 decades ago, specifically that it has a 7 year deadline. Representative Gretchen Dobervich from District visits with host Joel Heitkamp about her disappointment in it's passage and how it hurts woman all across North Dakota. "This legislation is driven by fear," says Dobervich. "One of the legislators that voted to pass this resolution has been in office for 25 years, why is it now such a big deal?"

The 2019 ND legislative session is now into it's second half, and House Minority Leader Josh Boschee talks with Joel about legislative wins during the first half of the session while also outlining the agenda for the second half. Represenative Boschee mentions the Dem-NPL caucus has successfully worked across the aisle for a robust behavioral health bill, prioritizing K-12 education funding, while also making sure they take care of long term care. 

Today the ND Dem-NPL caucus held a press conference to discuss these topics in greater detail.
