In this edition of Locked on Capitals Dan talks about how the Capitals and Alex Ovechkin mourned the loss of Alex's father Mikhail. Mikhail was a great man and a very important person in Alex's life. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Alex. In the official statement from the Capitals “The Washington Capitals organization is saddened to hear of the passing of our captain Alex Ovechkin’s father, Mr. Mikhail Ovechkin. Mr. Ovechkin was a true gentleman and was such a significant and consistent presence at Capitals games and practices. With a constant smile on his face, he loved interacting with our fans and expressing his gratitude for their support of his son, of whom he was incredibly proud. Our organization’s thoughts are with the Ovechkin family at this difficult time.” Later Dan talks about how Tom Wilson and Nic Dowd took to the ice in non-contact jersey for the first time in a long time. They're both a way out but is promising to see them out on the ice. In the last segment Dan talks about the call up of Dylan McIlrath and what that means. Dylan is the captain of the Hershey Bears and it's Dan's belief that the Capitals want to see how he plays in Washington before they sign another defenseman.
