  • Nos Audietis, Episode 306: Just win, baby

While there were definitely moments of brilliance for the Seattle Sounders, their First Round encounter with FC Dallas was more about simply moving on in the MLS Playoffs. Jeremiah and Aaron discuss how blowing leads is probably not a repeatable path to success, but they do marvel at how well the Sounders seem to have mastered the art of doing just that and still managing to pull out a victory.

In order to squeeze in an episode before Wednesday’s Western Conference semifinals while Jeremiah is in Washington, D.C., this a shorter episode than normal. Hope you don’t mind.

  • Bear With Us, Episode 3: Will Bruin podcast finally has a name

It took us three episodes to finally get here, but we finally have a name for Will Bruin’s podcast. From henceforth it shall be dubbed “Bear with us.” We liked the double-entendre and thought it was playful enough without being overly punny.

Anyway, we talked about the Sounders’ chances in the playoffs, Will’s experience in the broadcast booth and did our best to avoid talking about Jonathan Campbell’s Instagram feed (we failed). We also brought back one of our favorite segments: #AskWillBruin. It’s an advice segment, and if you’d like to submit your own query please email us at [email protected].

  • The Socceresq Podcast (Episode 12): Life in Lower Division Soccer (w/Nipun Chopra)
Life in soccer outside of Major League Soccer can be a rough existence in the United States. Securing enough attendance, sponsorship revenue and relevance to survive is a real problem. Even the United Soccer League, which has grown dramatically at the Division 2 level, is not immune from teams threatening to fold.
I called up Nipun Chopra of Soctakes.com to discuss the growing pains of USL as they try to expand their soccer presence in the United States. We also talk about the teams that are struggling, and how the Professional League Standards impact the growth of soccer outside of the Division 1 level as it pertains to leagues like NISA.

  • Coffee & Valkyries, Episode 14
When the 2019 NWSL season began, Rosie White opted not to play with the Chicago Red Stars, instead focusing on preparing for the World Cup with New Zealand. After the World Cup, White became a member of Reign FC as part of the club's aggressive, yet smart efforts to shore up a roster battered with injuries.
Since joining the club at the halfway point of the season, White has made nine appearances, claimed two goals, and certainly been instrumental in not only keeping the club afloat, but also preparing for a NWSL Semifinal encounter with the defending champions.
On this episode of "Coffee & Valkyries," get to know Rosie White, the club's preparation for the playoffs, and more.

  • The Socceresq Podcast (Episode 11): Mike Petke versus Real Salt Lake w/Matt Montgomery of RSL Soapbox
Mike Petke, former manager for Real Salt Lake, was fired after it was determined that he used a word which MLS considers a slur towards referees after a match against Tigres in the Leagues Cup.
He was initially suspended for two weeks and ordered to undergo anger management. That suspension was later upgraded to a full termination after Dell Loy Hansen, the owner of Real Salt Lake, was caught on tape discussing the incident, having revealed he was still considering firing Petke, even though the manager was serving his agreed upon suspension. Petke then filed a lawsuit against the team, alleging breach of contract among other causes of action.
I discuss the case with Matt Montgomery of RSL Soapbox, who initially uncovered the Hansen conversation, which is believed to have initiated the about face which led to Petke's ultimate demise. I then briefly review the causes of action in the lawsuit and give some initial thoughts on where this could be headed.

  • Nos Audietis, Episode 305: Stumbling into second

For all the ups and downs this season has endured, the Sounders head into the final week of the regular season knowing that a win will secure the No. 2 seed in the West. The path to this point definitely hasn’t been as enjoyable as any of us would have liked, but I also suspect we’d have accepted this fate if it had been offered to us before the season began.

Their latest win was a reasonably impressive 1-0 decision at San Jose in which Jordan Morris scored in the 94th minute. That was fourth time since the end of the Gold Cup break that the Sounders won a game with a goal in the 89th minute or later, Those eight added points are currently the difference between the No. 2 spot and missing the playoffs.
