Henchman 基本给两类人工作：
politician 政客，政治家，政治人物
gangster 黑帮，流氓，歹徒，匪徒

一个政客和他的党羽

a gangster and his henchmen

Henchman 的单复数变形和man一样，单数 henchman，是复数是 henchmen。

Henchman 来源古英语，由“种马+人（horse + man）”人，原指是马夫，照顾马匹的人。现在 henchman 没有“马夫”的意思了。
groom 马夫，新郎，男仆，年轻男子，王室侍从官
Henchman 随着时间的演变，衍生出“值得信赖的追随者，得力助手，帮派成员”的意思。

在007小说和电影里有很多henchmen，让人最印象深刻的《007之金手指》里的Oddjob，他戴着一顶黑色的礼帽，是个武器，也可以说是一个gadget。
顺便说一下，演Oddjob的演员（Harold Sakata）在20几岁时还参加1948年的伦敦奥运会，夺得一枚举重银牌，所以他也是Olympic medal winner（奥运会奖牌获得者）。

Henchman 不光指男人，007里面也有多女打手，也叫 henchman。

当我们不知道或不记得某个东西的名字时，会说：

我们不知道或者忘记东西的名字时，thing 和 stuff 这两个词就很好使，这也是为什么 thing和 stuff 使用频率那么高，就像中文我们经常说“那东西，这东西，……的东西”一样。

举个例子：

我要擦窗户，问家里人擦窗户的工具放哪了，但我忘了那东西叫什么了，就可以说：

Where's the thing for cleaning the window?

擦窗户的东西在哪儿？

clean the window 擦窗户，清洁窗户

clean 打扫，清洁，使……干净

又或者：
