On the Horizon

On this week's podcast, Derrick sits down with Zak May from  @ReloadingQuest to talk about the South Africa trip he went on with us and what he has been up to lately.

With a channel called Reloading Quest, Zak likes to talk about reloading ammo and all the data he finds. He is currently working on McGuire Ballistics, a solid copper bullet manufacturer out of California.

Recently, Zak did an article on 8.6 BLK and 338 ARC so he gives his opinion on the two cartridges. There is SO much to break down in this episode when it comes to ammunition and calibers.

This is a great episode for those interested in the reloading world and those who want to learn about ammunition.

This podcast was a bit difficult to record since Pieter is all the way in South Africa, so apologies for the delays and awkward breaks in the video.

Derrick is heading to South Africa soon, so he asks Pieter questions about hunting down there, specifically for Kudoo cows and Baboons. Baboons are very intelligent animals and Pieter talks about how he has to outsmart them and his shooting techniques for taking them down.

Pieter was one of the first people we sent Stiller's new Wombat action to and he built a 6.5 PRC Sherman short mag. Him and Derrick chat about rifle components, especially the barrels, and building.

For this week's On the Horizon episode, Derrick and Michael sit down again in this PART 2 of our customs episodes to talk about our new and improved process for turning custom rifle dreams into reality.

Just to recap, in PART 1, Derrick and Michael reminisce about the past custom rifles they have built and the amazing details that went into them. You are missing out if you have not seen that episode and the awesome builds Horizon has created!

In this PART 2 episode, Derrick, Michael, and the whole customs team created a new process for designing and creating our custom rifles. They define what a truly custom rifle is, the exclusiveness of the program, how to go about getting a custom rifle, what to expect in a consult, the steps in creating the rifle, and more! Check out our Horizon Select page on our website at https://horizonfirearms.com/select/

Michael also talks about our Core+ rifles and how they differ from our truly custom rifles and our Core rifles. Core+ rifles are when a rifle has a modification done to it that is not standard to that rifle, but standard to another, like changing the fluting on a barrel or changing a color. Similar to this, we are offering what we call Reserve rifles, which is exclusive to our dealers. Dealers can create their own line of Core+ rifles that are reserved specifically for them.

If you are curious about how we create our custom rifles, or if you are wanting to get your own custom created, this is an episode you don't want to miss!
