"My husband and I have been arguing about getting a dog. I grew up with dogs, and he has always known I live dogs since before we got married. I assumed everyone loved dogs and didn’t have a problem having them inside the house. I grew up with labs, we always had one in our home, and they were always well trained. The topic of a dog came up shortly after we got married, as I work from home and would like a companion inside. My husband said “I love dogs, but I can’t have one inside. They are an animal, and having them inside is disgusting.” I responded with, so do you think my parent’s house is disgusting? He responded yes. I cried, as dogs have been a huge part of my childhood and life, and having a dog that is just outside, I don’t see the point. I have tried to plead with him but he won’t budge, even stating if I got a dog and he saw it was inside, he’d give it away. What should I do?"
