"My family received the most unexpected call at noon on Saturday. A Humane Society called and said they had found our missing dog. She has been gone for five years and is living with another family. Someone found Misty after she got out of her yard last Friday and took her to the rescue. They scanned her microchip and told her current owners that she actually belongs to us. Misty's current owners have two young girls and love her with all their heart. My children are 17 and 18 and will both be going off to college next year. My family is split on whether or not we should allow Misty to stay with her current owners or bring her home with us. My kids want her back, but they'll soon be gone. Misty, from what I've been told, has a good home and lots of love where she's at. I think I would be selfish to ask for her back. I also don't want to disappoint my kids. What would you do if you were me? We can't visit because Misty lives hours away. Thoughts?"
