With Jeff out doing some OSR, Capt. Kevin and Capt. Kirk invited Capt. Ricky “Hollywood” Poupore to take the trip downtown to Metro Park for the Jax Boat Show! Beautiful boats at a beautiful location…you can’t beat it!

Of course there was a bunch of fishing talk, lots of great gear tips, and even a tasty technique or two popped up in conversation.

  • Here’s your L.V. Hiers gear tip of the week: If you’re looking for a great way to present the small “peanut” pogies we are catching…try this rig: 1/4oz split shot with an Owner #1 Mosquito hook. Works like a charm!
  • Here’s your Ring Power CAT tip of the week! On the road again… We will be LIVE with our guy, Guy next Saturday at Consignment Boat Sales in Mayport!
  • Here’s your KirbyCo Builders’ Cooking Tip of the Week: Capt. Kirk’s Smoked Fish Dip
    • Smoke approximately 1-2lbs of fresh fish using
    Hickory or Apple chips
    Refrigerate the smoked fish overnight. Following day shred the fish and crumble in a large bowl.
    Add 1 cup mayo
    1/2 cup sour cream
    1 tbs Westershire sauce
    1 Vidalia onion diced
    Teaspoon of Old Bay
    1/4 tbs of salt
    1 tsp lemon juice
    3 tbs tiger sauce or more if desired
    Serve with captain wafers or crackers. Blend ingredients well n chill.
    Fish Cake:
    To the above recipe add 1 egg to enough for 2-3 cakes, roll in panko and sauté on low heat with butter or sesame oil till brown. Serve with tartar sauce.
