  • The Grace of God in Your Life
Grace is one of the most beautiful and most misunderstood words in the Christian vocabulary. Grace is God's unmerited favor. It is His kindness toward you when you deserve the opposite. It is His power working in you when you have no strength of your own. Ephesians 2 verses 8 and 9 say, "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves. It is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast." Salvation is by grace. But grace does not stop at salvation. Grace is the power for every aspect of the Christian life.My dear friend, you need to understand grace not just as a theological concept but as a daily reality. Grace is not a license to sin. It is the power not to sin. Grace is not God's permission to live carelessly. It is God's empowerment to live righteously. Grace is not just for the beginning of your Christian life. It is for every moment of every day. God's grace is sufficient for everything you face. His strength is made perfect in your weakness.Think about the apostle Paul. He had a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to buffet him. He pleaded with God three times to remove it. But God said in 2 Corinthians 12 verse 9, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness." Paul learned to boast in his weaknesses because they allowed the grace of God to be magnified in his life. He discovered that when he was weak, then he was strong because Christ's power rested upon him.Think about the prodigal son. He wasted everything. He hit rock bottom. He deserved nothing but judgment. But when he returned to his father, he did not receive judgment. He received grace. The father ran to him, embraced him, put a robe on him, a ring on his finger, and sandals on his feet. He killed the fatted calf and celebrated. That is grace. It is getting what you do not deserve.Think about the thief on the cross. He had lived a life of crime. He was dying for his sins. He had nothing to offer. He could not do any good works. But in his final moments, he cried out to Jesus, and Jesus said, "Today you will be with Me in Paradise." That is grace. Pure, unearned, undeserved favor. So how do you receive and live in God's grace daily? First, stop trying to earn what is freely given. You cannot earn grace. That is the whole point. Grace is a gift. Receive it by faith. Stop striving. Stop trying to be good enough. Accept that you are accepted in Christ.Second, humble yourself. Grace is given to the humble. James 4 verse 6 says, "God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble." The proud person says, "I can do this on my own." The humble person says, "I need God's grace." Humble yourself and ask for grace.Third, receive grace for your weakness. You do not have to be strong. You do not have to have it all together. When you are weak, God's grace is most available to you. Bring your weaknesses to God and let His grace be sufficient for you.Fourth, extend grace to others. Because you have received grace, you can give grace. Forgive others as you have been forgiven. Be kind to those who do not deserve it. Let the grace you have received flow through you to others.Fifth, grow in grace. Second Peter 3 verse 18 says, "Grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ." Grace is not static. It is something you grow in. The more you experience God's grace, the more you want to experience it.What this produces in your life is freedom, power, and joy. Grace frees you from trying to earn God's approval. Grace empowers you to live a life that pleases God. Grace fills you with joy because you know that you are loved unconditionally. Grace is not just a doctrine. It is the power for daily living. Receive it. Live in it. Let it transform you.Let us pray. Father, thank You for Your amazing grace. I do not deserve it, but You give it freely. I receive Your grace today. I stop trying to earn what You have already given me. I humble myself and ask for grace for every weakness, every struggle, and every need. Help me to extend grace to others as You have extended grace to me. Let me grow in grace every day. Your grace is sufficient for me. I live by grace. In Jesus mighty name, amen. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

  • The Virtue of Patience
Patience is not a popular virtue. In a world of instant gratification, waiting is seen as a burden and an inconvenience. But patience is essential for the Christian life. It is a fruit of the Spirit. It is a mark of maturity. And it is a key to receiving God's promises. Hebrews 6 verse 12 says, "Do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises." Faith and patience work together. Faith receives the promise. Patience waits for it.My dear friend, God is never late, but He is rarely early. He works according to His own perfect timing. And often, His timing requires you to wait. The waiting is not wasted. It is part of the process. In the waiting, your faith is tested and strengthened. Your character is developed. Your dependence on God deepens. The things you wait for are often more precious because of the waiting.Think about Abraham. God promised him a son when he was 75 years old. He waited 25 years for Isaac to be born. Twenty five years. During those years, Abraham had moments of doubt. He took matters into his own hands with Hagar. But he ultimately learned to trust God's timing. Romans 4 verses 18 through 21 say that Abraham did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God. Abraham learned patience through waiting.Think about Joseph. He had a dream from God when he was 17 years old. He spent the next 13 years as a slave and a prisoner before the dream was fulfilled. Thirteen years of waiting. During those years, Joseph could have given up on the dream. But he remained faithful. He served God in every season. And in God's perfect timing, the dream was fulfilled.Think about Anna and Simeon in Luke 2. They spent their entire lives waiting for the Messiah. Simeon had been told by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before he saw the Lord's Christ. He waited patiently. And when Mary and Joseph brought baby Jesus to the temple, Simeon took Him in his arms and praised God. Anna was a prophetess who served God with fasting and prayers day and night. She saw Jesus and gave thanks. Their patience was rewarded. So how do you develop patience while you wait? First, recognize that God's timing is perfect. He sees the beginning from the end. He knows exactly when the time is right. Trust that His delay is not denial. It is preparation.Second, do not complain about the waiting. Complaining reveals impatience and a lack of trust. Instead, use the waiting time to draw closer to God. The waiting is not empty time. It is fruitful time.Third, keep doing what is right while you wait. Do not stop serving, praying, giving, and obeying while you are waiting for your breakthrough. Faithfulness in the waiting positions you for the blessing.Fourth, remind yourself of past faithfulness. Look back at how God has been faithful in the past. He came through before. He will come through again. His track record is perfect.Fifth, wait with expectation. There is a difference between passive waiting and active waiting. Passive waiting is giving up. Active waiting is waiting with expectation, knowing that God will act. Wait with hope. Wait with anticipation. What this produces in your life is a faith that has been proven genuine through the test of time. Patience produces character. Character produces hope. The waiting is not wasted. It is producing something eternal in you. Your patience in the waiting will be rewarded.Let us pray. Father, I confess that I am impatient. I want things to happen in my timing. But I know that Your timing is perfect. Help me to wait patiently for Your promises. Give me the grace to trust You in the waiting. Help me to be faithful while I wait. Do not let me grow weary. I choose to wait with hope and expectation. I know that in due season, I will reap if I do not give up. Help me to wait well. • The Principle of Sowing and Reaping
There is a principle in Scripture that is both sobering and encouraging. You will reap what you sow. Galatians 6 verses 7 through 9 say, "Do not be deceived, God is not mocked. For whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart." The principle of sowing and reaping is built into the fabric of creation. Every seed produces after its kind. What you sow determines what you will harvest. My dear friend, this principle applies to every area of your life. If you sow to the flesh by living according to your sinful nature, you will reap corruption and destruction. But if you sow to the Spirit by living according to God's Word, you will reap eternal life and blessing. You cannot expect to reap a harvest of blessing if you are sowing seeds of sin. And you can be confident that if you are sowing seeds of righteousness, you will eventually reap a harvest of blessing.Think about the story of the rich fool in Luke 12. He had abundant crops. He built bigger barns to store his wealth. He said to his soul, "Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years. Take your ease, eat, drink, and be merry." He was sowing to his flesh. He was living for himself. But God said to him, "Fool! This night your soul will be required of you." He reaped what he sowed. He stored up treasure for himself but was not rich toward God.Think about the widow of Zarephath. In 1 Kings 17, she sowed a seed of faith. She had only a handful of flour and a little oil. But she gave her last meal to Elijah the prophet. She sowed sacrificially. And God multiplied her seed. Her flour and oil did not run out for the entire duration of the famine. She reaped a supernatural harvest because she sowed in faith.Think about the Macedonian churches in 2 Corinthians 8. They sowed generously out of their deep poverty. They gave beyond their ability. And the result of their sowing was not just material blessing. They experienced joy, liberality, and the grace of God. Paul said that God loves a cheerful giver and that God is able to make all grace abound toward you so that you may always have all sufficiency in all things. So how do you apply the principle of sowing and reaping to your life? First, identify what you are sowing. Examine your life. Are you sowing seeds of the flesh or seeds of the Spirit? What kind of harvest are your current seeds likely to produce? Be honest with yourself.Second, sow good seeds intentionally. Sow seeds of generosity, kindness, prayer, Scripture, service, and love. Every good deed is a seed. Every word of encouragement is a seed. Every prayer is a seed. You are sowing constantly. Be intentional about what you plant.Third, be patient. There is always a time gap between sowing and reaping. The farmer plants seeds and waits for the harvest. Do not get impatient. Do not give up. Your harvest is coming.Fourth, do not grow weary in doing good. It can be discouraging when you have been sowing for a long time and have not yet seen the harvest. But Galatians 6 verse 9 promises that if you do not give up, you will reap in due season. Keep sowing. Keep believing. Keep trusting.Fifth, sow even when you are in a difficult season. The principle works in every season. When you are in need, sow what you have. The widow sowed her last meal. The Macedonians gave out of their poverty. Sowing in a difficult season produces the greatest harvest. What this produces in your life is a harvest of blessing that matches the seeds you have sown. You will reap what you sow. If you sow generosity, you will reap generosity. If you sow love, you will reap love. If you sow prayer, you will reap answers. If you sow the Word, you will reap faith. The harvest is coming. Keep sowing.Let us pray. Father, I want to sow good seeds in every area of my life. Help me to sow to the Spirit, not to the flesh. Help me to sow seeds of generosity, kindness, prayer, and love. Give me patience to wait for the harvest. Do not let me grow weary in doing good. I trust that in due season, I will reap if I do not give up. I want my life to produce a harvest that glorifies You. Help me to sow wisely and faithfully. In Jesus mighty name, amen. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

  • The Beauty of Brokenness
There is a beauty in brokenness that the world cannot understand. The world values strength, self-sufficiency, and independence. But God values a broken and contrite heart. Psalm 51 verse 17 says, "The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart. These, O God, You will not despise." God does not despise brokenness. He treasures it. He draws near to the brokenhearted. He uses broken people to accomplish His greatest purposes. My dear friend, brokenness is not the same as being emotionally shattered or destroyed. Brokenness is a state of humility and dependence on God. It is the place where your self-sufficiency has been shattered. It is the place where you realize that you cannot do life in your own strength. It is the place where your pride has been crushed and your independence has been surrendered. And in that place of brokenness, God can do His greatest work in you and through you.Think about the alabaster jar in Luke 7. A woman who was a sinner came to Jesus with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume. She broke the jar and poured the perfume on Jesus's feet. The breaking of the jar released the fragrance. If the jar had not been broken, the perfume would have remained inside. But when it was broken, the fragrance filled the whole room. That is what brokenness does in your life. It releases the fragrance of Christ through you.Think about Jacob. He was a man who relied on his own scheming and manipulation. He tricked his brother Esau out of his birthright. He deceived his father Isaac. He outsmarted his uncle Laban. He was self-sufficient and proud. But God broke Jacob. He wrestled with him all night and touched his hip, leaving Jacob with a permanent limp. After that night, Jacob was never the same. He walked with a limp, but he walked with a new name, Israel, which means one who struggles with God and prevails. Jacob's brokenness led to his transformation.Think about the apostle Paul. He was a man of tremendous ability, education, and pride. He persecuted the church with zeal. But God broke him on the road to Damascus. He was struck blind and led by the hand into the city. His self-sufficiency was shattered. He had to depend on others. After that encounter, Paul was a different man. He wrote, "When I am weak, then I am strong." His brokenness released the power of Christ through him.So how do you embrace the beauty of brokenness? First, understand that brokenness is not punishment. It is invitation. God is not angry with you when He allows brokenness. He is inviting you into deeper intimacy with Him. He is making room for more of Him and less of you.Second, stop resisting the breaking process. When God allows circumstances that break your pride, your self-sufficiency, and your independence, do not fight it. Surrender to it. Let God do the work He is doing in your heart.Third, in your brokenness, run to God. Do not run away. Do not try to fix yourself. Do not numb the pain. Run to the Father. He is near to the brokenhearted. He will meet you in your brokenness.Fourth, let your brokenness make you more compassionate toward others. Broken people are gentle with the brokenness of others. Your pain prepares you to comfort others who are in pain.Fifth, offer your brokenness to God as a sacrifice. You may have nothing else to give. But you can give Him your broken heart. He will not despise it. He will receive it and use it.What this produces in your life is the fragrance of Christ. When you are broken, the beauty of Jesus shines through your cracked places. Your weakness becomes a vessel for His strength. Your brokenness becomes a platform for His glory. The beauty of brokenness is that it makes room for Jesus. And Jesus in you is the most beautiful thing in the world.Let us pray. Father, I offer You my brokenness. I have tried to be strong in my own strength. I have been proud and self-sufficient. I surrender. Break me if You must. I want less of me and more of You. In my brokenness, let Your beauty shine through. Let the fragrance of Christ fill my life. I give You my broken heart. You will not despise it. You will use it for Your glory. Make me beautiful in my brokenness. In Jesus mighty name, amen. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
