Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon turns 50 in March and we want to celebrate this groundbreaking progressive rock album the way we always do - relating our personal stories of discovering the record, the band, seeing them play live, interviewing their members and going track x track. Dark Side is one of the biggest selling albums of all time (50 million+ sales worldwide) and changed the trajectory of the band who were best known as a psychedelic ensemble famous for their light shows and long instrumentals. After the departure of leader Syd Barret in the late 1960s, the band found their way forward together with all members - David Gilmour, Roger Waters, Rick Wright & Nick Mason - contributing to the writing and musicianship that catapulted this one into the stratosphere.

Recorded at EMI Studios (now Abbey Road Studios), the boys along with the help of engineer Alan Parsons experimented with new technology, multiple tracks, sound effects and recording techniques that built a groundbreaking soundscape. Though the record still had the signature Pink Floyd instrumentals, it also included timeless classic rock radio numbers like Money, Time, Us & Them and Brain Damage. From the iconic album cover to the direct, cutting lyrics, this album is unparalleled and remains relevant 50 years after it was first released.

Michael Grecco is an award-winning and internationally renowned celebrity photographer and director, noted for his iconic celebrity portraits, magazine covers and editorial images.

Early in his photography career, he worked for the Associated Press by day and hung at the Boston clubs at night. Documenting the punk, post-punk and new wave scene that thrived there and in New York, he was able to create a retrospective of that iconic time in his book, “Punk, Post Punk, New Wave: Onstage, Backstage, In Your Face: 1978-1991.”

In our discussion, Michael talks about the venues that were so central to the scene: The Rathskeller, Paradise Rock Club, The Channel, Jonathan Swift's and The Bradford Ballroom. He recalls unforgettable moments with Billy Idol, seeing U2 play in the U.S. for the first time, hanging out with the late, great Pete Shelley of the Buzzcocks and even spending time with David Crosby.

Lynn Goldsmith is an artist of many hats, painter of conceptional images, film director, even co-manager at one point for Grand Funk Railroad. But the reason we are thrilled to talk with Lynn today are the images she has created with her camera. There is not enough space to list the hundreds of museums, galleries and magazines that have featured her work, but let's just say that if you are a music fan, you have had the honor of viewing her artistry. She has fourteen published photography books, featuring artists like Bruce Springsteen, Patti Smith, KISS, and The Police. Her latest book is called Music In The 80s, so we are thrilled to welcome Lynn Goldsmith into our virtual studio.
