  • I'm In Love With That Song podcast: Rush - "The Camera Eye"

In 1981, Rush had planned to release a live album, but riding a wave of good vibes & inspiration, they changed their minds and decided to record an album of new material instead. It turned out to be their best-selling album, and years later the band would still look back on it fondly. Most of their biggest hits are on this album titled Moving Pictures, but this episode we're turning our ears on a lesser-known (but fan favorite) track, "The Camera Eye".

  • What's HOT in the Strip Clubs - Behind The Curtain with Charley Lee
Introducing Charley Lee, one of the resident DJs at Downtown Cabaret in Minneapolis, MN! Our discussion leads us from his upbringing in Queens, NY where he began DJing to his college years at Duke University, through his start in adult night clubs in Las Vegas to his current residency at Downtown Cabaret which began in 2011. Charley tells us how a love of music from the radio starting with 'hair-metal' bands like Def Leppard and Guns N' Roses to hip-hop, reggae, dancehall, and house led to a lifelong passion for music and DJing! How did he first discover Wu-Tang Clan? What made Ol' Dirty Bastard tell a bouncer in Queens? Lol, What kind of culture shock did Charley experience in his journey from NYC to Duke (Durham, NC) and to Las Vegas? We dive into some of the nuances and differences in club DJing Vs Strip Club DJing. Charley tells us of his travels throughout Europe to discover underground house music that reminded him of why he loves the genre so much in the first place. Charley is thankful for his Downtown Cabaret family and team that allows him to fulfill all his artistic passions in the context of his club. He's found the true 'Unicorn' job! He gives us the scoop on some upcoming changes at his club and on a promotion very near and dear to his heart.:)
And of course, we put Charley on the HOT SEAT by asking the 10 questions made famous by Bernard Pivot and then James Lipton on Inside The Actors Studio with a twist!:)

  • AllMusicPodcasts - SCREAMIN' JAY HAWKINS "I Put A Spell On You: The Bizarre Life of " with Steve Bergsman

In the annals of rock ‘n’ roll there have been a lot of strange characters, but there probably hasn’t been anyone as bizarre as Screamin’ Jay Hawkins, He was larger than life as he emerged from a coffin with a skull on a stick singing “I Put A Spell On You.”

He was a whirlwind performer, a lusty singer, a prolific songwriter and a man who was a total stranger to the truth. And with that one song, Screamin’ Jay, who also studied piano and sang opera, became the embodiment of the sexually insatiable, voodoo-empowered, black man feared by 1950s America.  We speak with biographer Steve Bergsman, whose book I Put A Spell On You: The Bizarre Life of Screamin’ Jay Hawkins explores the legendary bluesman’s life, work and influence on rock’n’roll music.
