[Content/trigger warning: Talk of suicide.] Joy Division's story is a fascinating one, and the path they took to become who they are -- and who they became after the tragic loss of their lead singer Ian Curtis -- is a story for the history books. In this episode, we talk about the creation of their iconic song "Love Will Tear Us Apart," the grueling recording process, U2's Bono's surprising connection to the song, and Ian Curtis' legacy. We also talk about our memories and stories related to Joy Division, including our obsession with the movie "Control." On the way, we talk about the Swedish metal band Ghost and where they've popped up lately.

Chris Stapleton was no longer an Americana darling by the summer of 2017. He was the hottest act in country music and selling out venues in every city. It was a no-brainer that he would sell out his show in Southaven, Mississippi. But where country music fans saw an opportunity to see the biggest thing since Garth Brooks, the venue saw dollar signs.
This is the story of a rocker getting lost in the crowds at an oversold, overhyped country music concert. There's chaos, despair, and even a sweet redneck grandma princess.

From the Tennessee River mud that flows through The Shoals, to the studios, to the records, and the world, helped to forge that Muscle Shoals Sound, created by The Swampers. They were rural Alabama's answer to The Wrecking Crew and became bigger than most big city studio players, achieving so much, without leaving home. Well, there were a few trips to record in places like New York, and opening for The Beatles, when the situation required it. Those will be discussed, as well as the growth of a recording empire that was truly unique.
From Rick Hall and Fame Studios forming, to the Swampers getting their nickname, their own place, and making amazing records, Markus & Ray wade through it all, and deliver a Shotgun 5 Faves of this amazing music!

This week Tom & Zeus review the 1989 debut album album by the band, Badlands, which featured current KISS drummer, Eric Singer. Badlands was a bluesy hard rock band created by former Ozzy Osbourne guitarist Jake E. Lee, along with short term frontman for Black Sabbath, Ray Gillen, bass player Greg Chaisson and a pre-KISS, Eric Singer on drums.
This is the 4th album by KISS members outside of KISS that SIOL has reviewed. The guys discuss the cult-like affinity by the KISS army of this Badlands album and what happened to the band and their legacy.
As usual they rank the songs and then rank the album and covers against the three previous KISS member albums outside of KISS.
So find out if Tom & Zeus become part of the #BadlandsCult and how the hell did Mitch McConnell, Gisele Bundchen and Gary Coleman end up in this episode???

Perhaps the most influential compilation album of all time, the original Nuggets album was lovingly assembled by guitarist/author Lenny Kaye in 1972. Collecting some of the greatest psychedelic garage rock onto one collection was no small feat, but the album went on to inspire tons of musicians in the US and the UK. On this episode, we honor the 50th anniversary of this landmark collection with a look back at some of the best tracks by these long-gone, and mostly forgotten, bands.

he fans with his powerful voice and vivid storytelling.
It's great to see not only former bandmates like Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler & Vinny Appice sing his praises but to hear from Roger Glover, Rob Halford, Glenn Hughes, Lita Ford, Sebastian Bach, Eddie Trunk and many more about the kind of man and friend he was warmed our hearts.
Ronnie wasn't an overnight sensation - he was recording music in the 1950's! But he didn't hit it big with Rainbow until the 70s and success eluded him in American until he eventually replaced Ozzy in Black Sabbath and then went on to form DIO with Vinny Appice, Jimmy Bain & Vivian Campbell.
Hear what we thought of the movie, his falling out with Ritchie Blackmore, Tony Iommi, & Vivian Campbell, what he means to us as a singer and his legacy.
