March 7, 1985...
46 musicians gathered in the hopes of making a difference. In the center of them all, was Michael Jackson.
This is the story of one of the biggest benefit songs of all time. Who started arguments? Who failed to show? Who called a friend in Africa at 3 AM for an accurate Swahili translation?

Welcome to Ska Boom Stories which is the audio companion to my book Ska Boom: An American Ska & Reggae Oral History now available from DiWulf Publishing and Amazon.
The goal of the Ska Boom podcast is talk about ska with an emphasis on American ska history and the bands, musicians and people who have helped to create and influence a uniquely American version of ska and reggae that spans from the late 70s until today.
Like me, you’ve probably heard 'Pass the Dutchie' many times. And it probably makes you smile and dance. I never get tired of hearing it. What isn’t well-known is that MY trace their origins all the way back to the iconic 60s Jamaican rocksteady act The Techniques. What also isn’t very well know is the very sad story behind their ride from obscurity to fame and back again in just 15 months in the early 80s when the members were all still young teenagers.
Ska Boom is hosted/produced by Marc Wasserman and co-produced/engineered by Rob George and appears on the Pantheon Podcasts.

They say that if you knew Andy, you know why his was a special energy. Amidst the grind of The Seattle Syndrome, his light outshone most others in his orbit. Mother Love Bone was to be his vessel, following the merging of parts of Malfunkshun and Green River. But The Fates intervened...
The Imbalanced Brothers tell the tale, in their own way.

We've put a 2022 polish on this episode: more consistent sound levels, some song clips dropped in, and streamlined to Just the Devo Talk. Do enjoy, won't you? This show is part of Pantheon Podcasts.

Our guest this hour is Noel Paul Stookey, better known as the “Paul” of legendary 1960s folk trio, Peter, Paul & Mary. Today, Noel chats with Amy Wright about his lifelong journey as a musician. You’ll find out where Noel grew up, how he got introduced to the Greenwich Village folk scene, how Peter, Paul, & Mary formed and even how he got the name "Paul." They also chat about his upcoming album FAZZ: Now & Then, and how the songs on the record reflect how the interpretative nature of jazz has impacted his creative impulses over these past 60 years.
