It's Parch March (patent pending), which means it's time to lock up the liquor cabinet and get this straight-edge party going. Although we've put the spirits away, our spirits are still high as we welcome ascendant singer-songwriter Chloe Lilac to the show for one of our deepest dives to date. We explore the vicarious grief of her latest acoustic single "last week," discuss the absurdity of gatekeeping rock music, and finally solve the riddle of what male manipulator music sounds like. This is one of our biggest rap sessions to date, so be sure to keep your ears peeled for bonus episodes with more tasty snippets of this conversation. Cheers, lovelies!

Guitarist Will Johns is the guest of honor, this episode. I’ve had a lot of guests who have music in their DNA. They really had no choice but to be musicians. Never has it been more true than with Will. Will’s parents were actress Paula Boyd and world renowned producer & engineer Andy Johns. His aunt, Pattie Boyd, inspired some of the most beloved songs in rock and married George Harrison & Eric Clapton, making them his uncles. And we can’t forget his Aunt Jenny & her husband Mick Fleetwood.
That in and of itself could warrant a great conversation. But Will has so much more to discuss. He was in a number of bands in the 90’s & 2000’s, like GLYDA with Jesse Woods & Tramper Price. They recorded demos at Jesse’s dad’s place. I forgot to mention that Jesse’s dad is Ronnie Wood. But at one point, he put everything behind him and took work in an aquarium, staging art galleries between exhibits, and as a fisherman. A random interview request from a blues magazine reignited his musical flame and he’s been going strong ever since. Now he’s just fishing for fun. But that doesn’t even cover a fraction of his stories. Now he’s touring with Kofi Baker as part of The Music Of Cream. It’s more than a tribute band; it’s relatives of the supergroup playing the music, jamming, & telling stories in a multimedia experience. Follow the band @musicofcream. Today on the show I am speaking with Paul Peck. Paul got his start in the music industry as a student at Tulane University. After an inspiring trip to the New Orleans Jazz Fest, he joined the Superfly team that eventually was involved in organizing the first Bonnaroo festival in 2002. In this episode, we get some behind-the-scenes stories on how that came together, and how he put together "super jams" where artists who ordinarily wouldn't perform together join forces on stage.
Paul recently started his own festival, Okeechobee, in Florida and is now serving as the president of the fundraising platform Fandiem. We don't have our normal song samples throughout this episode, but I found Paul's stories of creating and putting on these festivals amazing, and I hope you do as well! Please enjoy, Paul Peck!
