Interest in medical cannabis is growing among people with Parkinson’s, but so is confusion. Many people with Parkinson's are unsure about what cannabis can help with, how to access it legally, or why some products work while others don’t.  

To bring clarity, Beatrice, the founder of the PD Buddy app, invited two specialists from Curaleaf UK for a straightforward discussion focused on real-life concerns: Which symptoms might cannabis help? What’s the difference between medical and recreational products? How do you know what dose or format is right? What are the risks? How does someone begin the process of getting a prescription?

Throughout the session, the conversation stays practical and grounded in everyday challenges faced by people with Parkinson’s — sleep, pain, stiffness, and overall quality of life. The goal is not to promote cannabis, but to provide reliable information so people can make safer, better-informed choices.

Medical cannabis is regulated very differently around the world. What is allowed, and how it is prescribed, varies widely. Nothing we discuss today should be taken as medical or legal advice, and we encourage everyone to check the rules in their own country, state or region.

In this interview, Beatrice Zatorska, Founder of PD Buddy app sits down with Scott McLeod, co-founder of StrydAR, to explore their groundbreaking Parkinson’s Walking Glasses. These glasses use Visual Cueing technology, inspired by fighter pilot helmets, to help people with Parkinson’s overcome common mobility challenges such as freezing of gait, slowness, and balance issues.

We were delighted to host Dr Briana De Miranda on the topic of "How the environment affects Parkinson's Disease and what you can do about it."

As Parkinson's diagnoses continue to rise worldwide, increasing attention is being given to the role of environmental factors in the disease's onset and progression, and to the practical steps we can take to better protect ourselves from these risks.

Briana De Miranda, Ph.D., is a Neurotoxicologist and Associate Professor of Neurology in the Killion Center for Neurodegeneration at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Her research focuses on environmental risks for neurodegenerative diseases, integrating expertise in toxicology, pharmacology, and neuroscience. Her interdisciplinary research is aimed at understanding how neurodegeneration is caused by environmental exposures, and finding ways to treat or prevent neurologic disorders caused by toxic risk factors.

We were delighted to host Carl Beech, the creator of the Beech Band, a new wearable device to manage Parkinson’s symptoms.

Carl was 51 when he was diagnosed with Young-Onset Parkinson’s.  He began to experience slurring and a rapidly worsening stammer. Faced with the loss of speech, he nearly gave up hope. But then, while experimenting with a therapeutic tapping technique, he had a personal breakthrough – rhythmic tapping allowed him to regulate his speech and relieve his stammer. This led to an idea: what if this could be turned into a wearable device that could help many more people?

Today, Carl will be sharing his experience with the Beech Band.

After 13 months of wearing the device Carl has experienced remarkable changes to his symptoms. Since its release in July over 15,000 have been sold and there have been very positive reactions from user. Whilst this story is inspiring and hopeful,  it’s important to remember that Parkinson’s is complex, and no single approach works for everyone and that the positive responses are anecdotal.

Dr Sackner-Bernstein is the author of a 2021 peer-reviewed study published in The Journal of Parkinson’s Disease, where he proposed that the standard treatment approach to Parkinson’s might actually be the opposite of what is most effective. We had the pleasure of hosting him last year, and we’re excited to hear his latest insights.

Dr. Fasano’s main research interests include using advanced technologies—such as infusion pumps and brain stimulation—to treat Parkinson’s disease, tremor, and walking disorders. He has published over 500 scientific articles, and serves on the editorial boards of leading journals in neurology and movement disorders. About the Speaker:-

Malú Gámez Tansey, Ph.D., is a Professor of Neurology and the James Caplin Chair in Alzheimer’s Disease at Indiana University School of Medicine and Director of Neuroimmunology Research Group & Executive Associate Director of Education at the Stark Neuroscience Research Institute.

Her lab focuses on the role of inflammation and immune system responses in brain health and neurodegenerative disease, with particular focus on central-peripheral neuroimmune crosstalk and the gut-brain axis, with the long-term goal of developing better therapies to prevent and/or delay these diseases.

Dr. Tansey obtained her B.S/M.S in Biological Sciences from Stanford University and her Ph.D. in Cell Regulation from UT Southwestern, followed by post-doctoral work in neuroscience at Washington University. 

She returned to academia as an Assistant Professor of Physiology at UT Southwestern in 2002 and was recruited to Emory University School of Medicine as a tenured Associate Professor in 2009. After 10 years at Emory and rising to the rank of Full Professor, in 2019, she was recruited to the Department of Neuroscience in the College of Medicine at the University of Florida as the Fixel Chair in Neuroscience and Neurology and Director of the Centre for Translational Research in Neurodegenerative Disease. She also served on the executive committees for the McKnight Brain Institute and the Fixel Institute for Neurological Diseases.
