Party Favorz — Dance Music Podcast

This 2017 BackSpin installment is an 80s Dance Music Classics megamix that traces the era’s darker electronic and industrial-leaning club sounds. It’s presented as a continuous 1:27:42 set intended to showcase how industrial textures crossed into pop and the dancefloor, with extended mixes and classic remix labels anchoring the flow.

Highlights include club-ready versions of Yello’s “Oh Yeah,” New Order’s “Blue Monday ’88,” and Depeche Mode edits, plus M.A.R.R.S.’s iconic “Pump Up The Volume,” Pet Shop Boys’ Ultimix of “West End Girls,” and Frankie Goes To Hollywood’s “Relax.” The sequence leans into 12-inch culture and remix-era staples — Razormaid, Ultimix, and Hot Tracks reshape familiar tracks into a single listening experience. There’s also a bit of scene color about early computer culture and the atmosphere that helped shape these sounds, but the focus remains on the grooves, edits, and industrial-pop crossover that kept clubs moving.

An 80s alternative dance megamix from 2017, built as a BackSpin-style set that revisits the darker, clubpiercing side of the decade. Party Favorz curates selections intended to capture the end-of-decade tastes—less obvious hits, extended edits, and classic Razormaid and Hot Tracks remixes—to reflect the DJ’s personal mixtape era and lifelong fandom. The mix leans into post‑punk, synthpop, and EBM textures with standout turns from Yaz, New Order, Erasure, Bronski Beat, Front 242, and Information Society. Expect Razormaid treatments of “Bizarre Love Triangle” and “Hit That Perfect Beat,” Hot Tracks remixes of Communards and Dominatrix, plus club-ready versions of S‑Express and George Kranz that keep the groove rolling. This set reads like a late‑night radio program for listeners who remember the scene and for newer fans tracing today’s indie and electronic influences back to their 80s roots. It’s a nostalgic, well-edited snapshot of a personal decade in music.

House / 80s Dance Music Classics tribute, 2016 — this Volume 2 remasters and reimagines George Michael’s dance catalog as a nearly two-hour club-ready set. Produced after his passing, the mix was rebuilt from scratch and meticulously remastered for clearer dynamics and modern listening while preserving the emotional core of his songwriting. The sequence balances Wham!-era origins and later solo work with contemporary club treatments. Standouts include the Freemasons’ electro take on “I Want Your Sex 2010,” the Illicit rework of “Fast Love,” Hex Hector’s 12" vox-up of “Outside,” and classic club reinterpretations by Division 4 and Todd Terry. The Shapeshifters’ remix of “Flawless” and CJ Mackintosh’s robust mix of “As” anchor the set’s peak moments and remind listeners of Michael’s versatility. This volume aims to honor George Michael’s influence on pop and dance music by translating familiar songs into club language without losing their emotional throughline. Fans of house-inflected remixes and dancefloor nostalgia will find a carefully paced tribute designed for continuous play.
