  • A Love Letter in Action! Part 2 of 3

Fan Mail: Tell Wendy how you're saying yes to yourself!

This week on the Love Letters, Life, and Other Conversations podcast we are delighted to have our first guest!  Last week we shared a beautiful and inspiring love letter from a listener who we no longer need to call 'Eve'.  Trish Donnelly joins Wendy to talk about the letter, her story and reflect on last week's podcast.

Wendy and Trish share a beautiful conversation about being women of faith and how that has supported them, how Trish's story inspires others, the gift of reaching for our dreams and so much more.

Jane was kept away this week by all the delightful details with Chateau Residency, but she will be back next week as Trish will return so the three of them can dig in deeper to this amazing love letter.

    • That we can adjust these suggestions in a way that fits our life, with the goal being to do something productive that catapults you towards

    Jane’s Takeaways

    • Also the acronym and its simplicity and ease
    • The space for silence in the S.A.V.E.R.S acronym and how it is a gift for yourself first before other things enter your day

  • Love Letters to our Future Selves

Fan Mail: Tell Wendy how you're saying yes to yourself!

This week on the Love Letters, Life, and Other Conversations Podcast Jane and Wendy share love letters to their future selves.  This springboard comes from an exercise from Jane’s online class ‘I Want More the Next 30 Years’.  Both Jane and Wendy read their letters and talk about the impact that writing and reading these letters had for them.

    Wendy’s Takeaways

    • The idea that our experiences are ours to own, even when they are shared. Being invited into someone else’s space to share in their ‘world’ still leave you open to the ownership of the experience itself.
    • The collaboration with her daughter Amelia in the experience of spending an extended period in France, and the decision to offer this type of immersive experience for other mother/child duos through future Mommy and Me trips;

    Jane’s Takeaways

    • The last line of her letter ‘You surround yourself with kind and genuine people. Love and tenderness is your go to language and you are fluent.’ She will be very happy if this goal becomes a reality for her future self.

  • A Love Letter to Friendship and What You Look for in a Friend

Fan Mail: Tell Wendy how you're saying yes to yourself!

This week on the Love Letters, Life, and Other Conversations Podcast Jane and Wendy talk about the essential ingredients they look for in friendship.  They discuss what qualities make a good friendship or that reveal a not so good one. They also share that they have different groups of friends born out of life’s seasons and circumstances and how those friendships support them in different ways.

As well, they both agree that when we are defining and seeking the characteristics we are looking for in a friend, that we are fostering those characteristics in ourselves also.

    Wendy’s Takeaways
The idea of having groups of friends based on the seasons in life and groups that meet different needs in our lives.

    Jane’s Takeaways
How friends can move in and out of the current handful that you are deeply connected to and you depend on to move through the seasons you are in, but that she isn't fond of friends only staying for a season, she prefers friendships with longevity.

  • An Email as a Love Letter

Fan Mail: Tell Wendy how you're saying yes to yourself!

This week on the Love Letters, Life, and Other Conversations Podcast Jane and Wendy use an email as their springboard for their conversation.  The email contains a heartfelt message about maintaining a long-distance friendship that is deeply rooted, but requires attention and care all the same.

They discuss the need for, and elements of maintenance for friendships, how we define and experience emotional intimacy, and the rules of engagement for hard conversations in order to have deeper, more meaningful relationships.

    Wendy’s Takeaways

    • The opportunities we allow our friendships to grow and expand

    Jane’s Takeaways

    • The use of the word emotional intimacy in relation to a friendship.
    • That it was a gift that her friend shared she was hesitant to reach out because she was worried about being too demanding or needy, because it meant that it was okay to feel that way herself sometimes. The shared experience is comforting.
    • Asking yourself before a hard conversation or when considering a situation ‘What assumptions am I making, and what can I do about that?’
