The KYW Newsradio All-Local for Wednesday, April 3, 2024 (Evening Edition):

• The man accused of killing three family members last month is back in Bucks County, where prosecutors say they plan to seek the death penalty. KYW's Suburban Bureau Chief Jim Melwert reports from Falls Township.
• Flames ripped through a rowhome in the Nicetown section of North Philadelphia, killing one person and injuring at least four others. Eleven people who lived inside the house are now displaced. KYW’s Hadas Kuznits has more on the rescue.
• Pennsauken is among a number of school districts in New Jersey and Pennsylvania letting students out early on Monday before the solar eclipse begins. KYW's South Jersey reporter Mike Dougherty spoke with the superintendent of schools in Pennsauken.
• Some bad news for concert-goers in Philly. Made in America will not be taking place for the second year in a row. Similarly to last year, organizers didn't provide many details as to why Made in America was called off. In a statement Wednesday, organizers only sharing that the production team is "reimagining" the two-day festival and promised an exciting return down the line. 

The KYW Newsradio All-Local — Wednesday, April 3, 2024 (Midday Edition):

• A section of I-95 Northbound is still closed in Northeast Philadelphia, as crews work to repair the Conrail bridge that was damaged earlier this week. But there could be a light at the end of the tunnel. KYW Newsradio's Tim Jimenez reports the project could wrap up in the next few days.
• Philadelphia's civic design review committee gave the 76ers' proposed downtown arena mediocre grades at best, after a 6-hour hearing on Tuesday. KYW Newsradio City Hall Bureau Chief Pat Loeb has more.
• Mayor Cherelle Parker introduced her nine picks for Philly's school board Wednesday afternoon at City Hall — and many of them endorse her idea of year-round school. We get the story from KYW Newsradio education reporter Mike DeNardo.

• The 76ers’ proposed Center City arena plan got another brutal bashing Tuesday at the second and final hearing before the Civic Design Review Committee.
• An individual is facing a slew of animal neglect and cruelty charges after police found dozens of sick and injured animals living in squalor inside a Coatesville home.

• Sen. Bob Casey met with Pennsylvanians who are feeling the pinch of rising prices. He says corporations are using inflation as a cover to raise prices in a practice he calls “greed-flation.”

• I-95 northbound will be shut down for days after a truck carrying an oversized load struck the Conrail bridge in Northeast Philadelphia Monday afternoon.
• The 76ers organization will present new features of its Center City arena proposal at a public Civic Design Review Committee hearing Tuesday morning.
• Parents, be cautious during student testing season. The Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General is seeing more scams related to SAT and ACT prep.

• Aramark workers at Wells Fargo Center are highlighting upcoming events, including Wrestlemania, that could be disrupted if they go on strike.
• The countdown to the solar eclipse is on. But, to see it without damaging your eyes, you'll need special glasses to block out harmful ultraviolet light from the sun.

• Mayor Cherelle Parker has announced her plans to reshape the Philadelphia Board of Education, nominating four current members and five new members. If City Council confirms the nominees, the new board would be seated on May 1.
• Police have arrested a man in connection with a fatal stabbing on a SEPTA platform in North Philadelphia on Monday morning. The identities of the suspect and victim are unknown at this time.
• Atlantic City Mayor Marty Small has publicly addressed the warrant served at his home last week. He says he’s done nothing wrong in his role as mayor and the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office is investigating a private family matter. 
• Police in New Castle County, Delaware, are investigating a case of brakes being cut on a vehicle last weekend.
• Do you have solar eclipse glasses yet? The celestial event, just one week away, will certainly be a spectacle and as KYW'S John McDevitt reports, ophthalmologists are warning that looking directly into the sun without approved viewing glasses could cause permanent damage to your vision.

• Police chased after two suspects and are still looking for a third after gunshots were fired near Temple University’s main campus Sunday night, blocks away from where dozens of young people had gathered on the street.

• Police are investigating after someone stole money from a donation box at a Northeast Philadelphia church while congregants were inside praying during a Holy Saturday service.

• Colleges all over the country are moving back enrollment deadlines as students and school administrators adjust to the changes in federal financial aid assistance, known as FAFSA.

• Someone stole money from a donation box at a church in Tacony while people were inside praying on Holy Saturday, police said.
• Police are investigating after someone spray-painted a swastika on a sign outside a synagogue in Wynnewood, Montgomery County — the second act of antisemitic vandalism there in 10 days.
• Colleges all over the country are moving back enrollment deadlines as students and school administrators adjust to the changes in federal financial aid assistance, known as FAFSA. 

The KYW Newsradio All-Local for Sunday, March 31, 2024 (Midday Edition):

• It’s Easter Sunday, and for many it’s a time to gather and celebrate. KYW’s Justin Udo talked with some people doing just that.
• Police removed about 70 protesters from the Vine Street Expressway in Center City after they prompted authorities to shut down traffic. The protesters were calling for an end to the war in Gaza and an end to U.S. support of a war that has killed more than 32,000 Palestinians.
• March 31 marks International Transgender Day of Visibility. The day is intended to celebrate the lives and contributions of the transgender community, while acknowledging the struggles trans people face, such as violence and discriminatory legislation.
• The local field office of the FBI has opened up applications for teen academies to area high schoolers this summer.
• A rough start to the season for the Phils --- losing their first two matchups against their rival Atlanta Braves: 9-3 on opening day, then 12-4 on Saturday. The Phillies wrap up the home stand against Atlanta at 1:35 p.m.
