• Drivers, start planning alternate routes now. PennDOT plans to close northbound I-95 at Columbus Boulevard for an entire weekend next month.
• Philadelphia police are still investigating a fatal shooting inside Society Hill Towers near 2nd and Locust streets Sunday night. One person is in police custody. 

• Whether it’s a popular gigantic water flask or expensive skin care that no 11-year-old needs, kids have been going bonkers over retail trends for decades. But the fact that most of it happens on the internet — and to an increasingly younger audience — is an emerging trend in itself.

• Merion Golf Club in Ardmore will host the 2040 U.S. Open Championship. 
• Monday marks the 51st anniversary of Roe v. Wade, which guaranteed a woman’s right to an abortion. But Roe was overruled by the U.S. Supreme Court a year and a half ago and has become a major political issue.

The KYW Newsradio All-Local for Monday, Jan. 22, 2024 (Midday Edition):

• Iced-over roads and sidewalks near the courthouse in Norristown, because of an early-morning water main break. Homes and businesses are without water as crews work on repairs. And some county buildings, including the Montgomery County Courthouse, are closed today. 
• We had a different kind of break in Delran, Burlington County. That's where a sewer line collapsed. Neighbors have been asked to cut back on flushing the toilet and showering. Officials are calling this a major sewer collapse that led to a section of Leon  Avenue at 5th Street to collapse on itself. Officials did not say how this happened, or if the freezing cold temperatures we’ve had for the last week, led to this mess.
• A 31-year-old man was shot and killed inside the Society Hill Towers on Sunday night. t happened just after 8 p.m. in the hallway on the 24th floor in the west tower. Officers have a suspect in custody and they also recovered the gun.
• A bill recently signed by Gov. Josh Shapiro ensures infants who are medically vulnerable have access to life-saving donor human milk.

The KYW Newsradio All-Local on Jan. 22, 2024 (morning edition):

• Temperatures have been below freezing in Philly and the city is in Code Blue, meaning expanded services are available to keep people warm.
• A man was killed during what investigators believe was a robbery in Norristown. Then later, the suspected getaway car was found on fire.
• Recent studies paint opposing pictures on the effectiveness of plastic bag bans like in Philly and New Jersey.

The KYW Newsradio All-Local for Sunday, Jan. 21, 2023 (Evening Edition):

• It’s a code blue weekend in Philly as temperatures drop well below freezing, and it’s been all hands on deck to get people warm.
• A new law signed by New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy requires schools to collect data and issue reports on child mental health, as suicide rates are on the rise. Bill sponsor Pamela Lampitt says the goal is to save lives by learning about the best practices being implemented at schools, and sharing the information.
• This month marks the 60th anniversary of the first Surgeon General’s Report that revealed the dangers of smoking. Yolonda Richardson is the president and CEO of the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids. She says recently, the FDA was set to eliminate menthol cigarettes, but that has been pushed off.

• Six people, including one juvenile, have been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a 20-year-old in Coatesville over the summer.
• With temperatures below the freezing mark, the city has been under a code blue advisory since Friday. Authorities opened up warming centers, but not all locations work for everyone.
• Local community organizations had to ramp up operations this week because of the snow. And with this weather over the weekend, there's still a need for help.
• New Jersey is seeing an increase in teen mental illness and suicide. So Gov. Phil Murphy has signed a new bill into law that requires schools to report on child mental health.

• The freezing cold this week has kept Philadelphia animal control officers very busy.

• Philadelphia police are looking for three people who abandoned an infant at a Walmart Super Center in the Northeast on Thursday. KYW Newsradio’s Pat Loeb reports.
• A SEPTA bus crash Saturday morning in Kensington killed the 23-year-old driver of another car.
• A Montgomery County man is charged with murder, accused of killing his neighbor in an argument over loud snoring. KYW Newsradio Suburban Bureau Chief Jim Melwert reports.

• As Philadelphia wraps up the biggest snow event in recent memory, Mayor Cherelle Parker promised to clear small residential streets and big roads alike, while praising city workers and residents for their response to the storm. 
• In Montgomery County, a man accused of killing his neighbor in an argument over loud snoring has been charged with murder. 
• New Jersey's governor has called for Camden's School Board President Wasim Muhammad to step down after a former student alleged Muhammad began grooming her for a sexual relationship in the 1990s
• Philadelphia police are looking for three people who abandoned an infant at the Walmart Supercenter in the Northeast Thursday night.

The KYW Newsradio All-Local on Friday, Jan. 19, 2024 (midday edition):

• After nearly two years with no significant snow, the Philadelphia region is bracing for the second snowstorm this week. The National Weather Service on Thursday issued a winter storm warning, in effect from 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, calling for heavy snow, with potential accumulation of 3 inches to 6 inches for the region.

• Owen Tippett scored twice, including a highlight-reel goal late in the third period, Scott Laughton made a penalty shot and the streaking Philadelphia Flyers defeated the Dallas Stars 5-1 on Thursday night for their fifth straight victory.
• While some of the warm-weather-friendly animals at the Philadelphia Zoo are getting the care they need, others are absolutely loving this snow day.
