• After releasing one suspect, police have a man in custody on charges he stabbed another man early yesterday morning at 15th Street Station.
• Parents of students at an elementary school in Germantown are heated after they say their kids have been sitting in frigid classrooms since they came back from the winter break.
• After nearly two years with no significant snow, the Philadelphia region is bracing for the second snowstorm this week. The National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning, in effect now through 10 p.m., calling for heavy snow, with potential accumulation of 5 inches to 6 inches for the region.

• Two men from Upper Darby convicted last year for their roles in the sex trafficking of an 11-year-old girl will spend decades in prison. 
• The Philadelphia Sheriff’s Pffice is making it easier for citizens to turn in wanted fugitives, with a new web page. 
• Parents of students at a Germantown elementary school are furious after finding out that kids have been sitting in frigid classrooms since they came back from winter break.
• For 24 years, New Jersey’s Safe Haven law has allowed the anonymous surrendering of an unharmed infant less than 30 days old. State officials continue to make sure  people know about the option, to keep babies safe.

• One person was stabbed near City Hall early Thursday morning, and the attack spilled underground into SEPTA’s 15th Street Station, officials say.
• Charges could be upgraded for two teens accused of shooting a 16-year-old in the head at that same SEPTA station last week. The victim died on Tuesday.
• Eagles players are weighing in about the future of Nick Sirianni -- a subject some players didn't even realize was being talked about.

The KYW Newsradio All-Local on Thursday, Jan. 18, 2024 (morning edition):

• Police say two women and a teenager are now in custody, weeks after officials say they assaulted a school crossing guard. Investigators credit the public for helping identify and locate the people involved.
• The National Transportation Safety Board has released its preliminary report on the Dec. 19 helicopter crash in Hammonton, New Jersey, that killed a Channel 6 pilot and cameraman.
• The Broad Street Run returns for its 44th year on May 5, and registration will open next month. And there are a couple of changes coming this time — with more runners invited and, for the first time in three years, a finish line at the Navy Yard.

• The teenage boy who was shot on a SEPTA train platform in center city last week has died. Charges against the 16-year-old and 18-year-old accused in the shooting are  expected to be upgraded now that the victim has died.
• A Chester County dentist faces assault charges, after a patient told Tredyffrin Township Police he inappropriately touched her during an emergency visit.
• With temperatures far below freezing, icy spots that have not been salted aren’t going away anytime soon. It's not just a problem on some of the streets, it's a challenge for those walking in the city.
• Habitat for Humanity chapters in New Jersey are merging to ultimately help more families.

• Police say SWAT officers shot and killed an armed man who fired shots out of a pickup truck in Northeast Philadelphia this morning, leaving part of Roosevelt Boulevard blocked off to traffic for hours.

• Watch your step out there. Temperatures should stay below freezing all day, so anything that was slushy or wet yesterday is now ice.
• Police are on the lookout for a suspect they say stabbed and robbed a Temple University employee just off campus early yesterday morning.
• Teens must now be accompanied by an adult chaperone on weekend evenings at the Deptford Mall.

• Many school staff and parents were none too pleased with the School District of Philadelphia’s decision to open on a regular schedule yesterday. 
• Police are on the lookout for a suspect they say stabbed and robbed a Temple University employee just off campus early yesterday morning.
• A 19-year-old will spend decades in prison after he pleaded guilty to shooting and killing an innocent bystander while trying to target another person in Norristown.
• Parents are being warned that they just can't simply drop off their teenagers at the Deptford Mall. Police will be increasing patrols and enforcing a curfew on weekends to ensure nobody is causing trouble. 

The KYW Newsradio All-Local - Tuesday, January 16, 2024 (Evening Edition)

The 47-year-old bystander who was killed in a shootout in Norristown is remembered as the shooter is sentenced to more than a quarter-century in prison.

For the first time in more than 700 days, the Philadelphia region got some significant snowfall. While many roads have gotten plowed, the same can't be said for sidewalks getting shoveled. According to the Philadelphia Streets Department, snow must be removed from sidewalks within six hours of the snowfall stopping. Minimum fines for unshoveled sidewalks are $50, but can reach up to $300 for each violation.

You've probably seen and maybe even smiled at the electronic messages like New Jersey's  "Nice car. Did it come with turn signals?" or PennDOT's holiday safety message "Only Rudolph should drive lit." The feds are putting the brakes on funny messages like these on electronic highway signs.

• The drought is over. After 715 days without seeing significant snowfall, the Philadelphia region got several inches overnight.

• A champion and all-time great Philadelphia Eagle is reportedly hanging up his cleats. Eagles legend Jason Kelce told his teammates in the locker room following the team's 32-9 playoff loss to the Bucs on Monday night that he is retiring, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

• Empowering women -- that’s the goal of two business owners in South Jersey collaborating on a project to help women in crisis and give them the tools they need to protect themselves.

The KYW Newsradio All-Local on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2024 (morning edition):

• Less than a year after reaching the Super Bowl, the Eagles are now left searching for answers. They lost to Tampa 32-9 in the wild-card round of the playoffs. 
• Philadelphia police are investigating after someone spray-painted a swastika on a building next to the Horwitz-Wasserman Holocaust Memorial Plaza in Center City.
• President Joe Biden and Mayor Cherelle Parker spent part of MLK Day together packing boxes of food at Philabundance. It was the third time since the 2020 election that the president visited the South Philadelphia food bank for the holiday. 
• With the snow that we got last night, AAA Mid-Atlantic is urging drivers to keep a snow emergency kit in their trunks. And if you already have one, make sure it's stocked.
