The Philadelphia Phillies took their first shutout loss of the season, falling to the Cardinals, 2-0 in St. Louis Friday night.

 

Phillies managed just three hits in the loss and two walks as Cardinals starting Andre Pallante kept their bats quiet of 7 innings of work.  

 

Rob Thomson did what he could to try and get his offense going. Before the game he shuffled the lineup for a second time in as many days, this time moving Bryson Stott to the leadoff spot and had Bryce Harper bat third with Kyle Schwarber batting clean-up.  

 

Kyle Schwarber, Nick Castellanos and Trea Turner came up with the only Phillies hits, while Brandon Marsh and Alec Bohm extended their slumps. Marsh now 0-for-his-last-21, while Bohm is 0-for-his-last-17.  

 

Aaron Nola needed 93 pitches to get through just 5 innings of work. He allowed both runs the Cardinals scored as part of a 30-pitch 5th. He drops to 0-3 on the season.
