The Philadelphia Phillies fell to the Atlanta Braves, 7-5 as the Phils found just about every way possible to lose this game.

The Phillies struggled, with Starting pitching as Zack Wheeler didn’t have his best stuff, lasting just 5.1ip allowing 5 runs. The Bullpen gave up 2 runs on 3 hits and 3 walks including 2 wild pitches and the offense was non-existent after the 5th inning. But there was one big play that stuck out in this one that led to the wheels coming off.

In the 2nd inning, Austin Riley stepped to the plate with one out. He hits high fly ball to the left/center field gap. Johan Rojas and Edmundo Sosa, who was making his first career start in left, came in charging at the ball. As the ball came down, Sosa and Rojas starting to look at each other as opposed to the ball. The ball dropped right at the foot of Rojas. An inexcusable mistake for a center field that Rojas has especially not trying harder to make the play with an inexperienced left fielder playing next to him.  

Kyle Schwarber and Nick Castellanos had great nights from the plate. Schwarber was a double short of the cycle including his 5th homer of the season and 3 RBIs, while Casty went  3-for-4 with 2 RBIs.

Phillies and Braves play game two of this three game series Wednesday night at 7:15. Taijuan Walker is set to start against “opener” Grant Holmes.
