Zack Wheeler struck out 13 over his seven innings of two-run baseball, as the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Miami Marlins, 7-2.  

 

Wheeler’s outing was backed by a two-run homer from Bryce Harper in the 1st inning as well as a four-run 2nd inning. Alec Bohm got the bats going in the 2nd with an RBI single. He was followed by a Johan Rojas RBI single to right and a Bryson Stott sac fly to center that brought home Bohm from third. Rojas scored one batter later on a wild pitch.  

 

Harper’s homer marked his fifth of the season and third of this homestand.  

 

The Phillies have now notched back-to-back wins for the first time since they were 5-1 and 6-1 on the season over two weeks ago. They are now 12-8.  

 

After Wheelers’ day was down, Tanner Banks and Jose Ruiz pitched the 8th and 9th innings respectively and didn’t allow a run.
