An estimated 25,000 people annually are released from prison and return to their communities in Philadelphia. But state data shows that two-thirds of those who are released end up back in prison. To reduce recidivism and better transition returning citizens back home, the city just opened its first reentry-focused Neighborhood Resource Center. Host Trenae Nuri talks with Pamela Superville, deputy director of the city’s Office of Reentry Partnerships, and Desmond McKinson, manager of Neighborhood Resource Centers in the city Office of Public Safety. They discuss the challenges of reentry for those involved in the justice system.
The Hunting Park Neighborhood Resource Center is located at 2221 West Venango Street.
