Podcast in Death

In this week's episode of Podcast in Death we talk with listener K.A. Gavio about how food in the "In Death" series helps to define the characters and set the scene.

Hello again, Everyone! In this week’s episode of Podcast in Death we talk with listener K.A. Gavio about how food in the “In Death” series helps to define the characters and set the scene.

From Eve’s seeing appetite as a weakness and over indulgent to Roarke’s over-indulgence in everything food and drink (Not to mention his need to dominate the BBQ grill). From Peabody’s love of baked goods to McNab’s love of…well…everything. Mrs. Mira’s flowery tea to Mr. Mira’s hot chocolate.

Food is a big part of any Nora Roberts/J.D. Robb book! Hope you enjoy the discussion!

We're back with another "We Review the Reviews" Episode! This time, we review the reviews of "Portrait in Death"!

We’re back with another “We Review the Reviews” Episode! This time, we review the reviews of “Portrait in Death”!

As usual, the reviews are what we would expect. One reviewer says the sex scenes were “Boring and Granny Style,” another said “the conversations made me want to gag,” and another said “she has the weirdest names for her characters….it’s really annoying.”

BUT, we do read a couple of really good reviews including one that said, “I thought I couldn’t love these characters more, but I do with each book,” and another who said “I’ve read a lot of series fiction and I have never seen one just continue to go from strength to strength like the In Death series. J.D. Robb/Nora Roberts is truly something else as a creative mind and a writer who can turn them out yet keep them fresh as spring daisies.” and also: “Susan Ericksen brings these characters alive, giving each an authentic voice with a genius of her own.” We couldn’t agree more!

Enjoy!

This week we talk about the Candy Thief!! Who could it be? Is it Feeney? Roarke? Peabody? Is it the whole squad? An initiation rite? Is Eve eating her own candy and then forgetting? We talk about all of these theories on this weeks show!

In our longest episode yet, we review "Portrait in Death"!! A favorite book of just about every fan of this series. Roarke's personal struggle in this is the main story here, and this book is just a rollercoaster for him, for Eve, for the reader! So many really iconic scenes [...]

This week, we talk with “In Death” Series fan Katheryn, who AJ came across on Apple Podcasts. Katheryn has a podcast where she reviews books, (https://podcasts.apple.com/at/podcast/dear-author-signed-me/id1526009974?l=en) and she gave a really good review of Naked in Death and said that she was a big fan of the series, so we [...]

This week, we talk with “In Death” Series fan Katheryn, who AJ came across on Apple Podcasts. Katheryn has a podcast where she reviews books, (https://podcasts.apple.com/at/podcast/dear-author-signed-me/id1526009974?l=en) and she gave a really good review of Naked in Death and said that she was a big fan of the series, so we thought that it would be fun to have her on the show while Tara is away this week.

The main topic of our discussion is Eve’s character progression. If you have listened to our earlier episodes, especially the “We Review the Reviews” episodes, you know how frustrated we get with people who claim that Eve never progresses as a character. For Katheryn, discussing Eve’s character progression is one of her favorite things. She’s extremely knowledgeable about the series and it made for a really great discussion. We hope you enjoy it!

This week, while Tara is away, AJ and Jen give recommendations for Nora Roberts books that you can read if you are an "In Death" fan and haven't read any (or very much) Nora Roberts.
