This episode turned out to be pretty restrained, considering (or maybe due to the fact) that Tara had been drinking margaritas and tequila shots prior to recording. She seems to be a sleepy drunk, so don’t be surprised if you hear some snoring during the episode.

That being said, we had an abundance of pretentious reviewers who’s thoughts on “Imitation in Death” included these gems:

“Just plain trash.”

“…the most reaching in character development, plot, and authenticity”

“…the horrible writing style have defeated me.”

“The book isn’t helped with the carting out of the failed Mira/Eve faux mother-daughter relationship.”

“…the most slowest and boring In Death book I read.”

But, also:

“17 books in and I’m still totally hooked!”

“Totally captivated and so messed up.”

“Great, Fabulous… Wonderful…. not perfect, but still spectacular!”

“Every minute I spend with Lieutenant Eve Dallas is a delight.”

“Roarke – swoon – he is perfect, fucking perfect.”

As you all know by now, Jen and AJ are a mess when Tara isn't on the podcast to keep us in line. We attempt to talk about all the times that Eve declares that something is or should be a law or rule.

As you all know by now, Jen and AJ are a mess when Tara isn’t on the podcast to keep us in line. We attempt to talk about all the times that Eve declares that something is or should be a law or rule.

But, as usual, with just Jen and AJ there, the conversation goes quite a bit off the rails and we end up talking about lots of unrelated stuff, like Rick Springfield appearing in a Saturday Morning Cartoon called “Mission Magic” early in his career.

In this week's episode of the show, we talk about Sports in the In Death World! This was actually a really fun topic, even for someone like AJ who doesn't sports!

Hello again, Everyone!

In this week’s episode of the show, we talk about Sports in the In Death World! This was actually a really fun topic, even for someone like AJ who doesn’t sports!

We start out discussing the Olympics in the future and what games would Eve and Roarke go see if they attended the games in 2020/2022/2024.

For winter sports, we decided Eve and Roarke would stick to downhill Skiing, Ski Jumping, Snowboarding, the Biathalon and those sorts of snow sports. But we don’t think they would be Ice Skating people or Curling, though we would love to see Eve watching curling and trying to figure out what the hell kind of sport is that?

For summer sports, we generally agreed that any combat/fighting sports like boxing or karate would be a given, as well as Baseball, Basketball, and probably Rugby and Soccer. And of course any of the shooting sports or Archery. Swimming and Diving might also be on their itinerary. Jen thinks they would go see Gymnastics, and AJ thinks they would like Fencing. Roarke, being the perv that he is would convince Eve to watch Women’s Beach Volleyball.

We then talk about Arena Ball vs Football, and have a little off topic discussion about head injuries in Football.

Last we talk about Eve’s main sport, Baseball and the many baseball references in this series.

As a bonus, AJ mentions an unconventional Summerset fancasting pick, and we’re making somewhat of a game out of it. See the attached photo and let us know who you think it might be!

Hope you enjoy this Episode!

Hey, Everyone!

This week, Tara is back with us! AND, we’re talking about “Imitation in Death”!

This is one of Jen and Tara’s favorites, and one of AJ’s “meh” books. The interesting thing is that although it’s one of Tara’s favorites, this is the one where she hates Eve the most. We all generally agree that Eve is unnecessarily aggressive with all of the suspects and witnesses in this book. (None of us are very happy with how she goes after Thomas Breen.)

BUT, there are some really great iconic moments in this book too: Mira trapping Eve into coming to her BBQ, Roarke buying his own BBQ and then fucking it up, Eve slapping Pepper Franklin back, Eve having dreams about her mother, Peabody taking the Detectives test… there is a LOT!

In this episode, we talk about the times that Eve steps over that line, and what that means for her as a character. Okay, let's be honest, we TRIED to do that, but the show went slightly off the rails. Also: Call us, John Stamos!

From “Naked in Death,” the very first book of the “In Death” series by J.D. Robb, we see that while Eve Dallas is a very by-the-book cop, she is also willing to step over the line into illegal activity territory if it means that she catches a killer and brings justice to the victims.

In this episode, we talk about the times that Eve steps over that line, and what that means for her as a character.

Okay, let’s be honest, we TRIED to do that, but the show went slightly off the rails.
