This week we have a special guest: Podcast in Death listener, Sue Neveu from Canada.

What we learned was that Jen HATES the song “Last Christmas,” and both AJ and Jen really dislike Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas is You.” But, so many of you REALLY like that song for Eve and Roarke. You also like “Baby it’s Cold Outside,” which Jen says some people find a bit “rapey,” so we added the “non-rapey” version by John Legend and Kelly Clarkson.

Also, most of you would like to see Mavis cover “Santa Baby” which is obviously what she would do.

Just FYI, I, AJ, do obsess about the length of the episodes. An hour seems just right, but an hour and a half is also fine. When it gets to 1:45 or 2:00…then I get anxious. 2:15? Unheard of!!! BUT…There are those episodes where I just have to give up and let it be what it is. This episode is one of those at 2 hours and 15 minutes.

We start out the episode with Tara giving us her thoughts on “Divided in Death,” because she could not give us her thoughts last episode. She then goes on to prove to us why she needs to be with us for EVERY episode, and why were are so sad when she’s not. Her insights are amazing.

Then we go into the reviews which are, as usual, complete bullshit. And we have probably the WORST review EVER.

But also we have some of the best reviews ever, and, as usual, praise for Susan Ericksen.

This book has pretty much everything you could ever want in an "In Death" book: Great mystery, heart wrenching relationship issues, great scenes of Peabody and McNab in Jamaica, great scene with Mavis and then an Eve makeover that leads to one of the best sex scenes in the series...Eve [...]

The book opens with Reva Ewing angrily driving to her best friends house. Reva’s best friend, Felicity Kade, has been having an affair with Reva’s huband, Blair Bissel. Reva breaks into the house with the thought that she would catch them in the act and maybe give Blair a stun to the balls. What Reva finds, though, is Blair and Felicity have been stabbed to death. Next thing she knows, she smells a chemical and passes out.

When Reva wakes up, she calls the one person she can trust the most: her mother, Caro. Caro then calls the one person SHE trusts the most, and that is Roarke. Roarke then grabs the one person HE trusts the most and that’s Eve.

“Divided in Death” is ultimately a book about trust. Reva trusted both Kade and Bissel, and that trust was violated in more ways than one. She then puts her trust in her mother, then Roarke, then Eve.

But it’s also about the trust that Eve has in Roarke, a perceived violation of trust between Eve and Mira, and the trust that Eve has in Feeney and Peabody.

This book has pretty much everything you could ever want in an “In Death” book: Great mystery, heart wrenching relationship issues, great scenes of Peabody and McNab in Jamaica, great scene with Mavis and then an Eve makeover that leads to one of the best sex scenes in the series…Eve confesses her crush on Dennis Mira, and Nora correcting a previous mistake in the best way. Just overall a great book!

It also has men who are the worst.

And we can’t believe we have to say this AGAIN, but DON’T STEAL OTHER PEOPLE’S SEX TOYS, ROARKE!!! THAT’S JUST GROSS!!

We’re back with another We Review the Reviews Episode! This time for “Remember When.”

This one is interesting! Earlier, on Instagram we posted about that Venn Diagram of Nora Roberts/J.D. Robb people.

 

Most people who listen to this podcast seem to be in the “Why not both” category. But with these reviews, you will quickly see that there is a definite split, some people thinking the Nora portion of “Remember When” is boring and “trashy romance,” and some people thinking that the J.D. Robb part is “Futuristic Garbage” and they hate Eve.

There are also the standard complaints of too much sex and/or “romantic stuff,” but interestingly enough: not ONE review accusing Nora of GHOSTWRITING!!
