It’s a new month on the pod, and another really interesting theme that we are investigating. We are spending all of October finding out how we learn and how our horses learn. It’s a huge and fascinating subject, and we hope you’ll enjoy the journey with us.

In today’s pod, we are chatting with Alice Oppenheimer about her TRT-inspired method of training horses. How does it work, what are the benefits and how has it changed her approach to her horses? We loved chatting with Alice, and there were lots of ‘Huh’ moments. 

Tania talks about learning dressage test, cantering in a two-point position and improving medium canter, while Katie takes one for the team with this week’s tack room tipple.

Richard Davison is a pod favourite, so we were delighted to chat with him at the Defender Burghley Horse Trials. He was suspicious of our questions at first, but soon warmed up to share his memories of his early equestrian days and to chat about how much the sport has changed. Saffron Cresswell is a former 4* Event rider and youth European champion gold medallist. But in 2024, Saffron suffered a fall at Bramham that resulted in her becoming paralysed from the chest down. Safety campaigner Victoria Privett, more commonly known online as 'EnduranceWithDarcey', started an online series in April 2023 called, "Horses vs dogs" posting the footage of an out of control dog attacking her horse on a bridleway. Since then, Victoria has relentlessly campaigned to improve legislation around dog attacks and equestrian safety.
