Pete Alonso hit his 3rd home run of the year in front a sold-out Citi Field crowd and that was all the New York Mets would need, as they win their home opener by a final score of 5-0. Tylor Megill got the call on the mound and delivered another solid start. 

It was the 6th inning when the Mets were able to break the game open after a pair of RBI doubles from Juan Soto and Brandon Nimmo. The Mets will look to start up a winning streak tomorrow when they send Griffin Canning to the mound in the second game of this series.
