Practical Prepping Podcast Episode # 54 is "Ten Core Beliefs That Guide Me In Many Areas, Including Prepping"
Some of the show notes:
What do we really believe? Really believe?
If we really believe something, we WILL act on it.
What drives us? What guides us?
Over time, I made a list of my personal core beliefs as they relate to ten subjects. (There are more, but we cover ten here, including how my core beliefs relate to prepping.
This list about what I believe, not what someone else thinks that I should believe! Your list will be no doubt be different, but I'd bet there are some similarities.
What drives YOU?
What guides YOU?
What do YOU really believe? Really believe?
Make a list of YOUR core beliefs.
What do you believe about life?
What do you believe about prepping?
Do you believe there will be things that will interrupt your families daily lives?
Power outages, hurricanes, tornados, wildfires, Winter storms, earthquakes?
Could you face a job loss?
Could you face a major illness or injury?
If we really believe something, we WILL act on it.
If we believe that we could experience any of these things, then we WILL take action by becoming prepared.

Practical Prepping Podcast Episode # 53,
"Dealing With Heat Related Illunesses"
Heat related illness
We discuss the people at greatest risk, and how our bodies regulate temperature by sweating, and we discuss how dehydration increases the risk.
Our Environment plays a large part in how well our bodies cool themselves as well. Air temp, humidity, wind speed, clothing and sun exposure, figure into heat related illnesses. Even high body fat is a factor.
Certain medications may increase risk of heat related illnesses. These include psychotropic drugs, some medication for Parkinson's disease, tranquilizers, diuretics, and birth control medications.
Heat illnesses range from mild heat cramps to life threatening heat stroke. We cover them all.
Heat stroke (THIS IS LIFE ENDANGERING)
The body loses the ability to cool itself.
This is an acute medical emergency !
Call 911 immediately!
Do Not give the parient anything to drink.
Remove as much clothing as possible.
Immerse in cool bath, or Ice pack armpits, groin, and neck areas to lower core temperature.
Transport to medical facility is necessary.
Prevention of all heat related illnesses:
Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!
Did we say hydrate?
Before, during, & after activities
Wear appropriate clothing
Pace yourself
Utilize morning and evening cooler temps
Limit direct sun exposure
Take frequent breaks for rest & hydration

In Episode # 52 "Back To Basics, Getting Started Prepping, And A Few Reminders For The Rest Of Us"
Maybe 2020 convinced you that you need to be prepared for future events. Maybe you are new to preparedness and it all seems a bit overwhelming. Relax. We can help.
In this episode, we get back to basics, getting started in preparedness. There's also some reminders for the rest of us.
If you haven't already, just get started!
One of the most important things every prepper, every person, should have is a NOAA weather radio, with alerts, to wake you during weather emergencies. You also need multiple smoke detectors and fire extinguishers on each level of your residence.
We begin with WATER STORAGE, one of the most important, often overlooked, items to store. We discuss amounts to store and ways to store.
We cover getting started and building FOOD STORAGE. It's not as hard as some make it, and what you need, to begin, is available in your grocery store.
Then we talk about layering your food storage items. Layering involves storing canned foods you will use, then dry goods in mylar bags for longer storage, and finally adding long-term storage, freeze dried foods. (We personally do not currently store freeze dried foods, but we are currently exploring that avenue).
Just get started. That is the most important aspect of preparedness. A journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step. Take that step today!
If you are just starting out, get our book, Practical Prepping For Everyday People - A Common Sense Guide On Preparing For Life's Emergencies ." It will help you get off to a good start, and covers most topics for the beginning preppers.
We recommend listening to episode #20, "Planning Your Preps" to help you get started with a good plan, which helps in your prepping journey.

Episode #51
We first recognize some of the countries in our international audience. We ask that those in our international audience send us an email in reference to prepping in their country, as we would like to explore preparedness around the globe.
The topic of this episode is:
"What the Bible says about Prepping."
First, we see being prepared IS taught in the Bible.
We explore the example of Joseph in Genesis 41, as he is appointed by Pharaoh to prepare the land in seven years of abundance for the coming seven years of famine. God gifted Joseph with the ability and courage to interpret Pharaoh's disturbing dreams which ultimately led to this national policy of preparedness and provision for Egypt and its neighbor countries.
We also discuss how the resourceful ant is referenced in Proverbs 6:6 as one who stores up in the summer for the winter.
Would you believe that Jesus believed in backups when it came to weapons? The passage is found in Luke 22. Lets examine that.
Second, prepping allows us to be able to bless others.
Joseph was able to aid other countries, his family, and ultimately the nation of Israel through the famine.
We believe the ultimate preparation is knowing Jesus Christ as your personal savior, but we respect everyone's rght to believe what they believe. We will not "force" our beliefs on anyone, but we do know that life with a personal relationship with Jesus Christ brings peace and freedom. May what we've shared today bless you and bring you even closer to God.
If you would like more information on how to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, please reach out to us by email at [email protected]

In Episode # 50 "Often Overlooked Items In Bug-out-bags and Get-home-bags."
Prepping is not all bug-out-bags and bushcraft.
"Bugging in", "hunkering down", or " sheltering in place" is much more likely during the average situation faced by most, but we need to be prepared for both possibilities.
In this episode we discuss often overlooked items for bug-out-bags and get-home-bag
The get-home-bag gets you home from wherever you happen to be when the world goes to crap, or you get stranded
We are not covering, in this episode, items almost universally included such as knives, fire starting, first aid kit, ammo, etc, but those often overlooked.
We'll have the list on the website in a few day for thise who want to review.

Episode #48 "Situational Awareness"
Do you ever just watch people?
Maybe you see some of the same problems we have observed. People have their face in their phones and don't pay attention. We've seen them step into traffic, run into poles, and one even fell into a fountain, all because they were not paying attention.
Situational awareness can be broken down into three components, observation, comprehension, and projection. We explain each one, and how they fit together to help you make good decisions based on good information, and thereby keep your family and yourself safe.
In this episode, we discuss situational awareness in a number of scenarios. Here's a few we discuss: eating in restaurants, in parking lots, exiting businesses, malls, doctors offices, etc., and returning to your vehicle. We discuss getting gas, Using ATMs, returning home, how to tell and what to do if you are being followed.
Situational awareness principles apply to daily life as well as SHTF situations.
Keep your head on a swivel, stay aware of your situation, and make good decisions based on good information.

Episode #47, Practicing "Gray Man" Principles
This episode is brought to you by "Practical Prepping For Everyday People - A Common Sense Guide On Preparing For Life's Emergencies " Available on Amazon and wherever books are sold.
We usuall think of "gray man" concepts in a SHTF context, but it is not just for shtf, it's very useful going about our daily lives.
The objective is to blend in with others around you.
On a campus, backpacks are the norm, but not tactical backpacks
In a professional environment, upscale leather brief case, computer bag, or messenger bag firs in.
In a work environment, computer cases and shoulder bags blend in.
While on vacation, try not to be looking like a tourist
We should not be sticking out, and not bedrawing attention.
Blend in by dressing like the people you expect to be around.
Don't make yourself a possible target of attack
Understanding these concepts help us in our situational awareness. They help us in watching for those who are "out of place"
AT HOME we can practice some "gray man" principles.
Don't announce travels or social media before or while away.
Don't put big ticket item boxes on the curb such as the new 72" TV box. That advertises to burglars.
Be discrete when loading weapons into vehicles.
Cut labels off certain boxes, which may identify us as preppers, before putting them in the recycle bin.
During SHTF
Wear NO tactical clothing
Carry NO tactical bags
Better to have hikers backpack, otherwise use raincover over tactical pack
Display No tactical gear:
No knives affixed to shoulder straps
Keep everything concealed
In the city, wear neutral colors
Blends in with city buildings, sreets, and objects
Avoid bright colors
In rual areas wear seasonal clothing
Hunting clothing normal attire in some areas
Jeans and shirt, cap
Around group of people, behave like everyone else
Ask the same questions, exhibit same actions
Act like the "normal" folks are acting.
STAY situationally aware
Know when to disappearand
