Michael Parenti showed that the choice facing humanity is not between capitalism and some imaginary perfect socialism, but between the actually-existing struggle for a better world and the barbarism associated with a dying capitalism.

Joti Brar, Chair of the Communist Party of Great Britain (Marxist-Leninist), discusses in this video how reports concerning rape and sexual violence are being weaponised to promote anti-immigration politics in Britain despite the complete absence of comprehensive ethnicity data.

Bad actors, reactionary media commentators and politicians manipulating reports of sexual violence by racialising the information and associating it with the immigrant communities in Britain who are victims of imperialism in their own countries. By adopting such a framing, these bad actors and their ilk are attempting to divert attention from the real institutional and economic failures of our system onto migrants. This is just one of the many problems that are pinned on to migrants; others include: overstretched services, falling wages, deteriorating living standards, et cetera.

The reality is that Britain does not have an immigration problem. It has a capitalism problem.

This week, Comrade Joti spoke with Garland Nixon about the connection between the imperialist war machine and repression – the increasingly draconian silencing of dissenting voices at home. What is it that makes war inevitable in the era of global monopoly capitalism? And why is repression such an important part of the war drive?

What are the signs that the system is in crisis, and how can we tell that its rulers are not in quite such a strong position as they would have us believe?

We also discussed the anointing of Andy Burnham as (unopposed) Labour leader and Britain’s next (unelected) prime minister. What has this process revealed about the ruling class’s agenda at home and abroad? And why is it that an apparently ‘left’ Labour government is the preferred vehicle for carrying out the most brutal austerity at home and combining that austerity with ever more rabid and bloodthirsty warmongering abroad?

Ultimately, we must learn the necessary lessons, get up off our knees and start organising ourselves for a serious fight-back. While the war-hungry monopoly banksters remain in charge, our lives are only going one way – and our children’s prospects with them.

Everything we need for a bright future exists; the first step to building that future is recognising that we can and must join the fight to comprehensively defeat and dismantle British imperialism on the home front.

The Turkish regime is attempting to stamp out all forms of local and international antiwar activity ahead of the upcoming Nato summit in Ankara.

The CPGB-ML joins all progressive and anti-imperialist workers in condemning the brutal kidnapping of young comrades who were attending a youth camp organised by the World Anti-imperialist Platform in Istanbul. This action comes as imperialist leaders prepare to converge for the annual Nato conference in Ankara next week (7-8 July).

This week I spoke with Garland Nixon about the growing militarisation of western economies and societies: what is driving it and how is it impacting our lives?

We talked about the huge propaganda drive against Russia, the constant talk about war spending and conscription and the multitude of ways in which the talk of existential threats and increased war spending are being normalised.

We also talked about the threat that is posed to British imperialism by the anti-genocide movement, which, at its core, is an anti-imperialist movement.

The need to suppress such activities explains the efforts the state put into to rig the trial of the Filton Six (who took direct action against the Zionist/Imperialist war machine in Britain) as well as the draconian targeting of health workers who oppose genocide in Britain.

It is in this context that Dr Ranjeet Brar and the Right to Protest organisation have launched a judicial review to try to overturn NHS England's decision to adopt the IHRA 'definition of antisemitism' – a device which allows managers to discipline and even fire health workers who express support for Palestine and opposition to Israeli genocide.
