Dr. Jessi specializes in burnout, as well as working with college students and healthcare workers. In this episode, we discuss what burnout is, Dr. Jessi's personal experiences with burnout, as well as signs and symptoms of burnout. Dr. Jessi shares why healthcare workers are at increased risk of burnout and common consequences of burnout in healthcare workers. We discuss the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on burnout, as well as Dr. Jessi's upcoming book How Do You Feel?

In today's episode I talk about cyberbullying. I start the episode by discussing the inspiration for this episode, which is the recent lawsuit filed by Algerian boxer Imane Khelif. I then discuss what cyberbullying is and examples of what it may look like. I cover why individuals may engage in cyberbullying, as well as the numerous consequences of being on the receiving end of cyberbullying. I highlight ways to know if your child or someone else you know is being cyberbullied and actions to take if you or someone you know is the victim of cyberbullying. Further, I end the episode by discussing the legal consequences for cyberbullying.

In today's episode of Psych Talk I speak with Meagan Clark, LPC, NCC about Human Giver Syndrome, this concept that a certain class of humans, generally women, are expected to devote all of themselves to the service of others. Meagan first discusses her journey into specializing in women's health and defines for listeners what Human Giver Syndrome (HGS) is. She then discusses how HGS is perpetuated in our society and the impact it has on mental health. Meagan covers what a feminist approach to therapy is and how those experiencing HGS benefits from this approach. We end the episode with Meagan providing words of advice and encouragement for anyone experiencing HGS.

As a Registered Social Worker, Roxanne does many things including therapy, consulting, and speaking. Additionally, she provides support services for other mental health professionals. Roxanne discusses why she decided to expand her services to support other mental health professionals, particularly those who are in or desire to go into private practice. Roxanne discusses common challenges mental health workers face when it comes to their own mental health, as well as factors that negatively impact their mental health. We discuss misconceptions or biases when it comes to the mental health of mental health workers, as well as how the work environment impacts the mental health of mental health workers. As an entrepreneur herself, Roxanne also discusses some of the unique challenges entrepreneurs in the mental health space face. Further, Roxanne shares ways mental health workers can improve their mental health and prevent burnout.

It is the 200th episode of Psych Talk and I am so grateful you have been here alongside me for this journey. We discuss their journey specializing in couples/relationships, opening their practice, and creating an online program for couples. Tarah and EJ discuss some of the main challenges that couples face and seek therapy for and why couples tend to wait for a crisis to happen before asking for help rather than seeking counseling prior to a crisis point. They discuss emotional safety in a romantic relationship and how to recover from a fight with your partner. Jessica discusses her journey to becoming a school psychologist and how she ended up specializing in anxiety, depression, trauma, and executive functioning. Jessica defines what executive functioning is and describes how executive functioning challenges may present, as well as challenges that individuals with executive dysfunction may face. Jessica then goes on to discuss how anxiety, depression, and trauma can impact executive dysfunction. Further, Jessica discusses strategies for strengthening executive functions and how teachers, parents, partners, and other loved ones support someone who is struggling with their executive functioning.
