On today's episode of the podcast, I am joined by Rahul.
He and I share a lot of similarities. We both have lost so much growing up, and had to adapt to survive. He, like myself, had to DIY approach to life, especially in higher education. Whilst I have paid and am paying for my education, Rahul did so by being an integral part of the company he's currently working at. He's the classic underdog story, with a twist. First being hired as a package fulfilment specialist, he worked his way up by charming the CEO and the fellow employees of his company. Now, the company is paying for his education because they see his unlimited potential, and current worth. We also delved into his experiences as an Indian who was born and raised in Japan, and the drawbacks he had to face because of that. It was a big pleasure getting to pick his brain, and I'm sure y'all will feel that too.
Rahul's second and drunker episode, where we delve in to his FALSELY laid image as a homophobe, and more in depth conversation about privilege, racism, and all sorts of other shit, will be provided on my Patreon, coming online soon!
Thanks for listening, hope y'all enjoy.
On this episode of my podcast, I talk with my very talented friend Amy!
She's a Canadian artist currently working and living in Tokyo. We talk about how her creative process differs when she's making content in Tokyo, compared to back home, and I try to pick her brain about what she thinks makes art good and/or timeless. She has a lot of diverse and engaging art that she currently sells on her website an showcases on Instagram and other galleries/pop-ups in Tokyo, and she's also just one of the funniest people to talk to and share thoughts with.
Enjoy!
Hi guys, today's episode is a bit different. This is more for myself than anyone else.
I thought I'd try to verbalise my thoughts on the hate crime shooting that happened in the past few days in Atlanta. These are my opinions, and rather than posting more tragic porn on my social media, I thought just ranting and sharing my thoughts here were better methods to share my thoughts and to just unload.
Thank you for listening.
On today's episode of my podcast, I have my good friend Louis.
He's a half Australian half Japanese chef currently working in Tokyo, and he's incredibly interesting. His zen and nonchalant outlook in life makes talking to him one of the most entertaining experiences you'll ever have. On this episode, we talk about Louis's path to becoming a chef, his love for anime, and his surprising reveal of the fact that he literally burned down his house to ashes when he was 8 years old.
Enjoy!
On today's episode of my podcast, I am joined by the buff, the handsome, the talented, and the hardworking Shota.
Shota is a Japanese American living in Tokyo working as a video producer, creative, photographer, and content creator. He's been and still is hustling in the media world in order to learn as much as he can, so that he can reach his goal of working in the film industry. That being said, I enjoyed a thorough and energetic conversation with him about our favourite film, and different aspects to what makes a good movie. You will hear in this interview of how dedicated he is to his craft, and how nonchalant he is about his Tiktok fame, which, in my opinion, shows the modesty Shota has and lives by. Growing up in different parts of the world, Shota and I also discuss the experiences of being raised in multiple cultures, and how that's shaped our perspective and out look today.
Enjoy!
On this episode of my podcast, I interview the talented, the disciplined, and the intelligent: Peace Gates!
It was such a pleasure interviewing Peace because of his very interesting and colourful background. Raised in Japan, Peace faced multiculturalism head on when he decided to attend a full on American high school at a US military base after spending the rest of his years in the Japanese education system. Peace runs a Youtube channel focused on tech reviews and, as you will hear on this episode, he's incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about his specialty. He's also a photographer and a videographer, a man of many talents. He is also one of the most disciplined and focused person I've met in my life, as he lives his life with value, perseverance, and PEACE.
A little disclaimer from Peace: he would like to let the listeners know that he's not an expert on gaming PCs, and tried to give the best explanation when commenting on the build of the new Macbook Pro.
Enjoy!
On the second part of my podcast with Misha, we divert in to another incredibly interesting aspect of her life. Personally, she's the first half American half Japanese individual whom I know converted to Islam so it was very captivating to hear her story of how she came to accept the religion. She breaks all stereotypes of what the conventional, and often ignorant, image of what Islamism should be. In my opinion, she represents what all great things about religion represents, basic human kindness and compassion.
Sprinkled with some humor and odd insights into different aspects of modern society, this episode is yet again a very rewarding conversations I've had on the podcast.
Hope y'all enjoy!
On this episode of my podcast, I'm joined by the incredibly intelligent and funny Misha!
I was lucky enough to be introduced to her by a childhood friend of mine, and had the honour of interviewing her about her life's struggle and accomplishments. Misha, who happens to be a survivor of sexual assult, is the co-founder of Speak Up Sophia, a university organization created to educate and spread the concept of consent , and ultimately prevent sexual assaults in Japan. She is an inspiration to us all, as she created something so meaningful out of an experience that should never occur. She is also a frequent contributor to the Japan Times, and now currently a masters student at the esteemed University of Tokyo, where she studies political science. Throughout this podcast, she shares a lot of the traumas she had to endure and overcome to be at where she is today. Paired up with her great sense of humor, I can confidently say that this interview was one of the most inspiring and entertaining podcasts I've recorded thus far.
Hope you enjoy this episode!
On the third and final part of my interview with Lorcan, we try to answer THE question: what would a dictatorship led by Tae look like? And then quickly followed by the close second: what is the meaning of life?
Lorcan and I try to tackle down the hefty question by referencing the books and philosophies that we were and are inspired by throughout our lives.
Enjoy!
This episode of the podcast has a clear topic of discourse: are the new Star Wars trilogy absolute fucking horse shit? Or does it have value? My best friend Lorcan seems to think the latter, and I try to tell him otherwise.
We then discuss our thoughts on the Hollywood business as a whole, and different actors involved in that industry.
Enjoy!
