Back with the best podcast you'll hear today, and this week the CEO is going through it! After a quick chat about supporting local restaurants and the Quaranteam's love for a "crispy Sprite", Kristen laments the roster shortcomings as of late. Lume tries to push Kristen into retirement, but a key reality keeps her committed to the game... THIRST. Another week, another opportunity to trash that which is the dating apps. They say life is about balance, so the crew pronounces their strategies on finding it. Will botox help Kristen regain some peace of mind, and will she ever locate a suitable location in MPLS to obtain some? Lume then brings a discussion of in-person introductions. What's a suitable title for mutuals in a bar setting? Should one attempt to convey their situationship status (or lack thereof) re: the person you're introducing? (AKA, the classic "y'all fxckin' or nah" scenario). Then, a follow up to the most recent Riddle Me This episode: what do you do if someone hits on you while you're out with someone else?
QQH(42:02): It was rivalry week in the world of college football, so Lume and Kristen break down the two games that meant the most to them, including a rare rush the field opportunity. Then they discuss the NIL glow up of MN legend Paige Bueckers. Astroworld, how much responsibility should be on Travis Scott? Is Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards the best interview in sports right now? The episode closes out with Kristen's "Whatcha watching?". This week's picks are Denis Villeneuve's Dune and Arrival (with a s/o to Blade Runner 2049).
Welcome to Quarantings Live Show Fridays sneak peak edition! Halloween got ROWDY y’all, so for the first time in ‘Tings history: you had to be there! Still, we couldn’t leave the listeners with nothing, so we’ve supplied quite the highlight reel. The crew gets things going with some absolute classic reckless profiles, and then they deep dive into what can only be called a love note to Minneapolis. Which bar reminds YOU of your toxic ex? Where’s the best place for a dance? Where could one find a sugar daddy? Is day drinking or night drinking more chaotic? Kristen and Lume go no-holds-bar on their favorite downtown haunts.
QQH(22:43): Some not so quick hits this week as the crew catches up on all the tea delayed from last weeks QH hiatus. Three cheers for Pete Davidson, an international hero. Another MPLS themed debate regarding Kristen’s recent jaunt to the famous First Avenue music venue. A revelation regarding Lebron’s reading of bedtime stories on the popular “Calm” app. Speaking of hoops, anybody else witness the recent puking court side drunk!? Lots to unpack in these headlines and a whole lot more (40 minutes worth), so buckle up!
Who doesn’t love a lil Kristen story time about a recent crazy Uber ride to kick off the show!? Then, a remix to one the Quaranteam's favorite topics this week, as the crew rattle off a few of their “favorite things” aka go time aka GREEN flags! (12:57) Are leggings and yoga pants a cheat code? (Yes) Is Kristen pining over dudes who are iced out in jewels? Subtle flex vs overt flex… who you drafting? Lume’s battle cry aka kryptonite: LONG HAIR DON’T CARE! Lume gives some appreciation to bottle service outfits, Kristen makes a IYKYK argument about men who talk out of the side of their mouth, and the pair weigh in on the age ole question of ass vs titties. Of course this episode couldn't end without discussing the CEO's height bias… straight up giving all the game away this episode.
QQH(52:39): Lume is oddly intrigued by the upcoming spectacle that is former NBA player Deron Williams boxing against former(?) NFL player Frank Gore. Then a little discussion on the recently announced "Sexiest Man Alive". The Kanye vs Drake beef might be ending, or is it just the latest in a long line of Drizzy PR plays? Lastly, are stadium/arena names really that important… because people seem to feel a way about the place now formerly known as Staples Center.
A little stroll down memory lane and some fashion talk kickoff the show this week. Apparently the Mall of America is not at all thriving in this sorta-post-covid time. Kristen also reviews her trip to the "Girls Gotta Eat" podcast live show (5 stars). Then, the crew gets down to the nitty gritty. Lume comes clean and admits that he has had enough... No not of the podcast, but of "the game"!(10:50) Kristen reminisces on her previous 2019 era retirement, persuading Lume to follow suit and pull the MJ comeback, but let’s just say he’s not convinced. Was he looking for wifey before this big life choice? Should he just embrace the savage life instead of removing himself from the game altogether? Is there an actual difference between "the game" and "games”? Does Kristen want Lume to sign up for Events and Adventures?! Retirement talks segue into wonder at why people seem to be slacking on effort towards keeping any "situationship" going lately. Kristen admits her main reason why she can NOT go into retirement. Will this retirement stick or is Lume just capping? Listen and find out!
No QQH this week because...life. Back next week!
Kristen starts things off with some audience comments and follow up points concerning the much debated “bodies that do not count”. It seems no one can agree on this hot topic (shockular). Then, it’s back to a classic this week aka Riddle Me This. How does one handle dating somebody out in public before you are exclusive? (7:12) Lume is all for bringing not-quite-bae around friends, but somehow can't get behind PDA with ACTUAL bae if parents are around. What exactly is the play in the ever- tricky “somebody's on a date but clearly unfocused on the date and trying to ignore or full on ditch the date and get YOUR attention” situation? Is it time to retire the phrase "She's too pretty to be single"? We can all guess Kristen’s answer (yes). Lume is NOT a fan of the social media "soft launch" as the kids would say. Speaking of not fans, the crew is not here for the recently trending "Cuffing Season" schedule, so they look to improve it.
QQH(56:50): Lume laughs at Aaron Rodgers and his recent fake truth coming to light. Then the crew is back with a movie review of the most recent 007 and let us just say that Kristen has some very strong complaints (major spoilers alert… but let’s be real, if you haven’t seen it yet you clearly not a true fan).
It's Season 2 and we're starting off scheming. First, the crew must come to terms on a definition for what the kids are calling a "sneaky link"... the new age phrase for "moped", apparently, according to Lume. Can or should you be friends with your sneaky link? Is there a difference between sneaky links and friends with benefits? If they're not your friend, can you bring them around your friends, or is that too close to bae status?
Then, Kristen breaks down her biggest keys to success in this type of relationship. How/where does one meet this person? What time do you hit them up? Weeknights or weekends? Should you break out the date outfit? What are the pros and cons of hosting vs traveling to theirs? Should you sleep over? Do you text them the next day? Are pet names acceptable? The nuances are endless.
QQH(52:02): Kristen gives a shoutout to a new type of Only Fans user. Then, the duo hit all the angles on the Tom Brady 600th touchdown ball debacle. Who is responsible for striking deals with spectators that exchange priceless mementos? Let's just say Lume was not here for any TB12 slander, and Kristen doesn't think signed jerseys hold a candle to a $50 million contract. A math class and a key update involving Bitcoin close out this heated debate. Lastly, the crew goes international, shouting out former Princess Mako of Japan. Could Kristen give up royal status?
Season 1 of Quarantings = complete! A whole 50 weekly episodes later and the team is still here giving you the best podcast you heard today. Lume breaks out the original DMs that brought the podcast to life. Nostalgia kicks in as Kristen and Lume go over which episodes have been their personal favorites so far and why. Lume finally puts a big admission on wax (everyone is surprised). Kristen declares she isn't participating cuffing season (no one is surprised). It's a celebration, and the appreciation for the listeners is real! Tell a friend, to tell a friend, to...oh you know the drill.
QQH (46:50): Wedding photos... worth the risk of losing them by disrespecting the photog? Aka a story of when keeping it petty goes wrong. Then the crew discusses all that is the Ben Simmons-Philadelphia 76ers drama. Kristen gives some congrats to Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker. Why does the Balloon World Cup exist and why isn't it held here in America? Lastly, a discussion about the MN heavy new season of Bachelorette leads to an on wax bet.
Back with another amped live studio audience for "Quarantings Fridays", the crew doubles down on the topic that keeps on giving, Red Flags! (4:14) What better place to start than with a personal shot at Kristen, continuing with more debate on what you should or should not find in someone's home. Not a TV in sight vs random American flags in the living room, which is worse? Kristen cops to her diversion from military men (sorry guys she's not into authority), which makes Lume question the "I love a man in uniform" paradox.
Daddy issues vs mommy issues, one of these things is not like the other (and one is a WAY bigger flag). How important is a headboard for the bed? Lume is still not convinced 4 pillows is the minimum (check out part 1 - Ep 29), but Kristen has the audience on her side this time around. Friends with the ex, a huge red flag or totally chill? This of course leads to a side discussion on who to blame when someone cheats. Some audience based questions close the show... Have you ever played your parents place off as your own?
QQH (51:33): After a big update regarding the YouTube channel, the crew gets into a couple of the breaking sports topics of the week. You know they could not let the week go by without trashing that foolishness that is Jon Gruden. Then a discussion on the enigma that is Kyrie Irving. Finally the date for the next live pod is announced- OCTOBER 29TH!
After a quick history lesson of Kristen's peak sports years, the Quaranteam is back with a real treat. As the summer winds to a close, it's time to divulge all of the nitty gritty secret "L's" taken in the past 4 months. How have Kristen and Lume muddled through the toughest of their dating losses lately? (5:10) First up, Kristen has a friend of a friend that takes "Hulk smash" to the next level at an after party at her brand new condo (a tale of blood and guts just in time for spooky szn, how fitting). Lume claims that summer 2020 was better than summer 2021, not helped by all the COVID make up weddings he had to attend... Which led to a very awkward wedding date ditch. Then, a former story time star gets his long awaited Part II, claiming the coveted title of first guy to hate Kristen for what she says on this podcast. Finally Lume breaks down why the app bio update has not yielded the expected results the crew was hoping for. For all the wins, its good to embrace the "L"s too, and that exactly what the team is trying to do this week!
QQH (53:36): First up, Lume laughs at Urban Meyer because, how could he not? Then he tries to get Kristen hype about this year's Super bowl halftime show lineup. They close out by discussing the "great social media blackout" that ruined people’s procrastination streaks this week (Don't worry, Kristen got a little something for Zuckerberg's behind).
They say timing is everything and some people just don't have it. Lume declares he has the worst timing when it comes to dating while Kristen prefers not to even check the time. Prompted by a recent reckless profile found on hinge, the crew first asks the question, is there a right time to disclose a small package? Kristen breaks down her "first come, first serve" dating philosophy which Lume wishes he had learned this long ago. Texting games, aka an eye for an eye, aka 5 hours later reply for a 5 hours later reply, yay or nay? Should Lume put the read receipts on for his co-host again? Then they discuss the worst kind of timing, the toxic ex pulling the negative comeback to steal your shine… stay away! Light the sage! Finally, it is story time regarding one of Kristen's friends vs a man with the worst timing who simply could not exit the chat.
QQH(56:00): Kristen brings back her sorely missed entertainment recommendations with Netflix's "Sex Education". Lume goes on a RANT about one thing he needs improved in all hotels across America. Lastly, they discuss the latest hustle in the world of art, involving $84,000 and a blank canvas.
