Yelena is one of the only people I was following for a really long time before reaching out to ask her to be on the show. Her amazing brainchild, The Confetti Project is something I resonate with deeply, because of how much gratitude has changed my own life. And I wanted to know more about the woman behind the lens responsible for giving others such a powerful platform.
In our heart to heart, Yelena takes us behind the scenes and into her extremely sheltered life as the first born of two immigrant parents. We talk about being a highly emotional, energetic, rule follower to sneaking out the night before she started college and carving her own unconventional path.
She shares how confetti got her through losing her dad to cancer and how, long after his passing, it continues to inspire her to live her life as deliberately as possible. A life dedicated to being on your own side, finding joy in whatever you're going through, using creativity to transmute your sorrows and taking care of yourself as a way to invite what others call impossible, into your life with ease.
For anyone who has ever felt unsure of their voice, or as if they've spent too long following the road paved out for you by others, or just want to learn how to use the idea of your mortality as the springboard for living full out with kindness, awareness, curiosity and compassion this conversation is for you.
As a side note, if you follow me on Instagram you know I had major tech issues with this episode and when I went into the track the 3rd time around I decided to focus more on the quality of sound than anything else. Making this track a little longer and way more uncut than our previous episodes but a definite representation of the magic that transpired and 100% worth every minute of your attention.
So if you're ready for to a very tender and honest conversation about coming into your own in a way that's fluid, free and full of soul, I lovingly introduce you to Jelena Aleksich.
