It’s Christmastime. Your boys are bullshitting about the various complications this particular holiday in a year of plague. Joe and Breno are hypocrites but at least Breno got his wife a tarantula. We’re talking about crimbo movies that are actually pretty fucking siqqqq, people in countries that aren’t the US that listen to us for some reason, metal Xmas records pt. VIII, Do They Know It’s Christmas?, feeling totally unruffled by bad metal opinions, and a desperate need to see the shittiest local show we can imagine. Then we open some mf presents. Jordan always gets us the nicest shit. God we love Jordan. And we love you. I hope that you’re able to find some joy in this joyless time.

If you’ve been listening to the show for a while you know what this is. It’s time to count down the 20 most popular metal tracks of 2020, each with at least 2 million views on YouTube. As far as we can tell, this is the most accurate system for understanding what your cousin listens to when he hangs out at the muffler shop on a Saturday night. Quit swimming around in the underground and take a deep dive into the mainstream with us on this week’s show. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and you’ll definitely want to argue with us on some of these selections. It’s a good ‘un!

We’re doing the whole year-end business right now. On this week’s episode of Toilet Radio your Toilet Boyz are choosing their favorite tracks of this miserable fucking year. Also, I guess we’re telling jokes and such in between. We got good jokes and pretty good songs so, overall, pretty above-par episode if you ask me. Tune in and lemme know which of these tracks you jammed on, which tracks you hated, and then rank each host on their respective qualities in the comments below.

Hot damn! This episode features the return of your Toilet Boyz to discuss the Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and Xmas amid pandemic. The nominees for Grammy best metal performance dropped so you know we gotta discuss our predictions for the eventual winner. We’re also talking about the career arc of Diamond Head. But we’re just three clueless assholes born in the late 80s so our boy IAN steps in at the 30 minute mark to interview Brian Tatler of Diamond Head! The guitarist and founding member of Diamond Head talks about the re-recording of Lightning to the Nations including their cover of Metallica’s No Remorse. (If you’re too young to understand, Metallica owes a bit of their early success to Diamond Head). The two talk about the original recording, DIY’ing in 1980, and the evolution of the band’s style as they tried to make sense of a senseless industry. Brian talks about the band’s late-career surge and DIY’ing here in 2020. It’s a delightful interview and you all ought to tune in right now.

You might know Bobby Jarzombek as the virtuoso behind the drum kit with Riot. Or Fates Warning. Or Arch/Mattheos. Or Sebastian Bach. Or Halford. Or, hell, maybe you’ve seen him at a South Texas dance hall playing with The Texas Jamm Band alongside George Strait’s Ace in the Hole Band players. Bobby has been around the block. This week Ian, the fourth mic of the Toilet ov Hell podcast, stepped in to interview Bobby about his insights on playing drums across four decades, how styles and technology change, compartmentalizing his playing approach through genres. I gotta tell ya, it’s an absolute joy to hear a metal mainstay like Bobby talk about his experiences playing country music when he’s not on the road. It’s also a sadly unsurprising to hear that some of his fans don’t like country music! Ian gets Bobby to talk about his experiences as a young gun with Juggernaut partly as a response to his brother playing with S.A. Slayer. You’ll hear how Bobby’s PAINSTAKINGLY recorded a MIDI drum pack at Sound City, the nuances of cymbals, and a tale of his dogs catching a squirrel while doing the interview. RIP squirrel. I hope you enjoy listening to this episode half as much as I did. Fates Warning’s latest album, Long Day Good Night is out right now. Get it here.

Folks, we’ve got a very different show for you today. Our resident old school scholar Ian stepped in to interview the Queen of Heavy Metal, Doro Pesch! We’re keeping it brief – all killer, no filler. Ian and Doro discuss playing drive-in shows and headbanging cars, uptight 80s parents, recording with Warlock vs recording albums now, and… wait for it… Dungeons and Dragons. It is a genuine joy to hear Doro’s incredible energy as she shares her tales from a lifetime in heavy metal. Big ol thank you’s to Ian and Doro for putting this one together. It’s a good one. You can get Doro’s latest record, Forever Warriors, Warriors United over at Nuclear Blast.
On November 13th, 2020, Doro released her long-awaited best-of album Magic Diamonds – Best Of Rock, Ballads & Rare Treasures through her own label Rare Diamonds Productions. Featuring 56 songs on three CDs, the album features an all-around impressive showcase that spans four decades of Doro music, and with 20 rock songs, 18 ballads, and 18 rare treasures, and more. Get it now!

The election’s over and lord willing you won’t ever have to think about it again. To commemorate the event, let’s remember some musicians that threw their whole careers into a bottomless pit by tying their brand to a loser like Donald Trump. We’re also talking about System of a Down, my total inability to understand global conflicts, and a Hampton Institute take down of heavy metal millionaires pretending to be working class guys just like you and me. Finally, we get to have a fun chat about Season of Mist and how criticizing their French asses is CANCEL CULTURE. It’s a fun one. Come have fun with us.

Happy Wednesday folks. As of 9 AM today no one knows anything, same as it was when we recorded this show last Sunday with our predictions for today. We wrapped up the Halloween Spooktacular last week and the entire time we were enjoying those sweet, sweet horror movies there were two stories tucked in our minds that we were aching to talk about. First up: the quest to crowdfund $33K to restore Vinnie Paul’s piece of shit limo. We got a little heated on this topic so I would like to remind you that this show is a work of parody and is not actionable. Then: we discussed the full fash transition of Five Finger Death Punch. Again, nothing within this week’s show is actionable. There’s a lotta laffs on this one and absolutely nothing that any one of us could ever get in trouble for. It’s a good ‘un.

On this, the final non-Patreon episode of the Halloween Spooktacular, I’m joined by Will Jameson (ex-Redbait, current Barren Branches, Wretched Empires) and Forest Bohrer of Adzes to talk about the pair’s extremely dope Tom Petty cover. Oh and we’re talking an extremely dank 2018 Indonesian horror movie called May the Devil Take You. If you’d like to get caught up before joining us, the movie is streaming on Netflix. For the rest of you, tune in and hear us talk about a full-on Sam Raimi-worshipping, blood-vomiting, fingernail-ripping, jump scaring, rooting AND tooting horror film. We’re talking about the rules of making a deal with the devil, when to get out the dang house, and what we think Chekov’s Gun is. Bonus: If you dig this movie, the sequel is out THIS WEEK.

We’re watching a surprisingly stylish 80’s flick stuck firmly in the 70s. This week, it’s mob-money-laundered 1983 possession horror gem Mausoleum! We’re joined by Real Queen of Horror, Zena Dixon, host of the Bloody Disgusting Podcast to talk the swarthy perverts, stylish yuppies, and head-exploding practical effects of Mausoleum. In addition to the gooey details, we discuss Marjoe Gortner, a formerly-4-year-old Pentecostal preacher who left his churchy ways to star in weird shit like Mausoleum. Also: LaWanda Page, extremely blue comic and Sanford and Son actress who has a scene-stealing performance in this movie. It’s a good one, folks.
Next week: For the conclusion* of our Halloween Spooktacular AN EXTREMELY GOOD episode for you. Wanna be prepared? Go watch MAY THE DEVIL TAKE YOU – available on Netflix and probably Shudder right now.
