Making his triumphant hat trick appearance, The Black Dahlia Murder’s Trevor Strnad made us watch a depraved Italian flick for our continuing Halloween Spooktacular. Beyond the Darkness (a.k.a Buio Omega) is a Goblin-scored 1979 horror movie that, to quote Trevor, “Sucks!” That’s ok, we’re gonna keep watching garbage anyway. Join us as we talk nonsense plot points, unnecessary gore scenes, and plot points involving embalming that leave us all perplexed. Additionally, we talk about knuckledragging death metal, his band’s changing production ethos, and a mom hiring him on Cameo to scold a bad son. It’s a good one, folks. Btw, Trevor’s gaming Twitch stream will return soon. Follow him on Twitter to see get the latest.
Next week: We’ve got a very special episode for you. Wanna be prepared? Go watch Mausoleum – available on Shudder and Prime right now.

Welcome to the first show of our star-spangled Halloween Spooktacular. We’re joined by Doktor Ross Sewage of Exhumed to talk about dead presidents, G.I. Joe, Ghoul artwork, and Frankenstein’s Army. This week we all watched the 2013 found-footage horror film Frankenstein’s Army and were honestly blown away by a movie NONE of us were excited to watch. It’s on Shudder right now so if you haven’t seen it yet, I highly recommend going and watching that shit right now, then come back and hear us break it down. Ross fills us in with the making-of details as we talk about a doomed Soviet battalion investigating a mysterious distress signal from the coolest abandoned mine in the Czech Republic. I cannot stress this enough: Watch this movie. In addition to being chock-filled with insane practical effects and buckets of goo, it presents a more accurate depiction of WWII than your average film. It’s a GWAR stage show come to live in video game form. I loved this movie and you will too. Get the Ghoul comic book here, and find Exhumed hot sauce here.
NEXT WEEK: We’re joined by Trevor from TBDM for his triumphant third show to talk about Beyond the Darkness (A.K.A. Buio Omega) which is available on YouTube right now. Tell me how much you loved Frankenstein’s Army in the comments below and get ready for an absolutely killer episode next week.

This week your boys discussed the new Deftones album and all the strange events of American youth culture that led us to this point. We’re getting into he TRL wars of the late 90s, the endless desire for a 7-string guitar, and the cultural battle over the name Nü. It all leads us to the standard bearers for modern nü metal, Five Finger Death Punch, and the modern fascist mindset. Zoltan Bathory suggests that the only reason you’re alive today is because your ancestors committed acts of incredible violence. We… disagree. And in even-older person news, we’re checking out Van Morrison’s COVID anthem and how it all connects to shadowy government plots to promote terrible music. Also, we agree with an Ozzy conspiracy. Put on your tinfoil hat because we’re going in on this one.

This is kind of a strange one but I’m feeling kinda strange so maybe it works. We lost a legend yesterday with Riley Gale’s untimely death. Unfortunately, we recorded this episode before his passing so this episode is mostly things we find amusing. On next week’s episode we’ll pay proper tribute. For this week, we’re talking about: Sturgis Rally 2020: UPDATES / Being Jesus Aged / Limp Bizkit: Origins / Every band was a boy band in the 90s-2000s. Yes, even that one. / Revisiting old ass reviews feat. Lester Bangs on Black Sabbath, Ryan Schreiber on Andrew WK, and some guy that thinks ICP is frat house music. I dunno what to say, folks. If you listen to this ‘sode I hope you enjoy it. Take care of each other and never take a moment for granted.

This week your boys are examining the superspreader event of the summer: Sturgis Motorcycle Rally 2020. We’re looking at a cavalcade of washed up has-beens, never-beens, and fuckin’ Fozzy. Eat shit, Chris Jericho. We’re also in stitches with the Satanic Warmaster furry’s plea for social justice in the wake of Metal Archives accurately describing his label as “NSBM”. Finally, UADA wrote a novel about radical centrism and it is exhausting. Tune in for the laffs, stay for the graphic descriptions of bikers swinging in piles of their own sick. It’s a good one, folks.

Your three main boys are taking the week off from our dumb bullshit. Instead, you get to listen to a damn fine interview with Portuguese heavyweights Moonspell! Toilet ov Hell reporter Ian stepped in to talk with Moonspell vocalist Fernando Ribeiro on the occasion of the re-release of their 1999 hit record The Butterfly Effect. The two discuss the effect of COVID on the band and taking some time to reflect on the things that really matter in life. They’re also talking maintaining a degree of privacy in a world of endless streaming possibilities, focusing on writing the best record they can, the rationale for releasing older material for younger audiences, Y2K, and recording in the early days vs. recording with a digital setup. Fernando takes us through the band’s live setup and the decisions they make regarding props, sets, and all the outlandish live production that goes into putting on a professional metal show. This is a damn fine interview and we hope you dig it!
