It took 3 seasons, but this week's podcast is the first where I tackle a former contestant on American Idol.  Oh sure I could've done one for Kelly Clarkson or Carrie Underwood, but those will happen at some point (just not right now!).  This week, I am joined by my lovely wife/producer J.C. as we take a look at and rank the discography of the North Carolina based rock band Daughtry led by the one and only Chris Daughtry (who placed 4th on American Idol back in 2006).  Which one makes our #1 spot?  Tune in this week to find out.

After tackling some serious artists, I decided to have some fun this week.  Since 1997, Flogging Molly (like Dropkick Murphys and The Pogues before them) have introduced a new generation of music fans to the unique genre known as Celtic Punk.   25 years later, the band led by David King continue to put out awesome albums, hosted a successful annual cruise since 2015 and are one of the best live acts I've ever seen!  With only 6 albums under their belt (and a new single that dropped earlier this year), one must ask... what is their best album?  Grab a pint and rock out with your shamrock out for I, B.C., will be ranking Flogging Molly's discography from worst to best.

In 1999, when music critic Daniel Durchholz described what the voice of this week's artist sounded like to new ears, it was lovingly described as "like it was soaked in a vat of bourbon, left hanging in the smokehouse for a few months, and then taken outside and run over with a car."  But BY GOD, 5 decades and 17 albums later, he is one of the most beloved songwriters/storytellers in American Music!  I know for some his voice is most definitely an acquired taste, it's the lyrics and the emotion he gives in each song that makes him so powerful to this day.  It even got him inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010 (deservedly so).  But WHAT IS Tom Waits' best album?  With 17 of them under the belt of the Pomona, California native, everyone has an opinion.  But if you want to know my opinion on his discography, tune in this week to find out.  I should give you a heads up, this will be a very controversial ending!

One of the most soulful voices in music for over 30 years, Seal continues to impress fans and audiences around the world.  Despite not having a new album since 2017, the British vocalist has been quite busy.  From appearing on "The Masked Singer" to being a coach on "The Voice" to voicing a seal in a Netflix movie last year.  Well, this week I count down all 10 Seal albums (yes, the covers albums are included) from worst to best.  If you've ever had a "Kiss From a Rose" or went "Crazy" on more than one occasion, this is the episode for you.  All I ask is if your favorite Seal album isn't high on the list, "Don't Cry".  :P

Iconic! Groundbreaking! Poetic!  Those are only a few of the words to describe Joni Mitchell.  The songstress from Alberta has garnered critical acclaim, fans around the world, and influenced many artists for over 50 years!  It also goes without saying she is one of the greatest singer-songwriters of all time and I'm really excited to take all of you on a journey through her discography and have the extremely daunting task of ranking her albums.  I'll let you know right now that most of you may be surprised at my pick for #1.  Maybe you won't.  But I hope you'll tune in for this very special episode dedicated to the one and only Joni Mitchell.

Like Black Flag, Minor Threat and Rage Against the Machine before them, Rise Against continue to open the eyes and ears of music fans with their social commentary on many topics from homophobia to animal rights to... a certain 43rd and 45th President of the United States.  Despite only 9 albums since they started at the end of the 20th century, the band led by Tim McIlrath have cemented their status as one of the best political punk rock acts of all time.  Even more so with their latest release "Nowhere Generation" (Which wound up on BOTH our RanDozen lists last year).  But is their latest their best compared to their other releases?  Tune in this week to find out!

Call him folk, call him alternative, call him blues, call him whatever you want.  Just as long as you call Ben Harper SUPER talented!  Marching to the beat of his own drum since arriving on the scene in 1992, he has amassed critical acclaim, a devoted fan base who consider him a genius, and one of the best (and LOUDEST) performers many (including me) have ever seen on stage.  With an incredible discography spanning nearly three decades, there's a lot from Harper that will be reviewed and ranked.  But which one is his best?  Tune in to find out!
