Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t *not* tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s.

You can count on one hand, and have digits left over, the number of times Tom Coakley has ever been heard on the show, but tonight he starts off the show with his very own birthday tribute. Do you remember newspapers? Do you remember comic strips in newspapers? What did you call them? Maybe like me, you called them the comics. Perhaps you called them the Sunday funnies, or the funny papers, or even just the funnies. Whatever you called them, rather than reading the funnies, in the second segment of this week’s edition of Rapidly Rotating Records we’re going to listen to the funnies. And in the last three segments of the show were going to play another game of “One Thing In Common.” You know, that’s where we play a set of records which seemingly have nothing whatsoever to do with each other, but in fact, have ,”One Thing In Common.”

    Here’s the complete playlist:

    Segment 1: Tom Coakley

Here Is My Heart – Tom Coakley AHO / Al Morris, v.

Did You Ever See A Dream Walking? – Tom Coakley and His Palace Hotel Orchestra / Carl Ravazza, v.
Okay, Toots – Tom Coakley and His Palace Hotel Orchestra / Dudley Nix, v.

    Segment 2: The Funnnies

Laffin’ At The Funnies – Ruby Newman and His Ritz Carlton Orchestra / The Funnyboners Trio, v.

Aren’t The Funnies Funny – The Four Squires
    Barney Google – The Georgians

Segment 3: One Thing in Common 1

Gather Lip Rouge While You May – Fran Frey AHO (Ben Selvin) / Fran Frey, v.

The Big Broadcast Medley – Part 1 – Debroy Somers and His Band / Carlysle Cousins, Dan Donovan, v.
Peaceful Valley – Fletcher Henderson AHO

Segment 4: One Thing in Common 2

Mucking About The Garden – Florida Club Dance Orchestra / Fred Douglas, v.

Let’s Get Friendly – Andy Sanella and His All Star Orchestra / Chick Bullock, v.
My Private Affair – Dawn Davis

Segment 5: One Thing in Common 3

Forbidden Melody Medley Part 1 – The Victor Orchestra / Victor Mixed Chorus, v.

Bull’s Eye – Joe Marsala AHO
